delicious food and equally great setting! this place has a great blended menu of seafood and italian to make everyone in my family happy. the lobster bisque was great; i would gobackjust for it!

you don't go here for the food. you go because it's a dive with great atmosphere, beer, and a fabulous view. grouper salad is fresh with a lot of mayo. ur small plate of shrimp will be fresh. burgers not great but referbackto first sentence.

great view and very good food. we all ordered "thee special" which is a 1/2lb of shrimp and it was delicious. definitely goingbackagain.

southport delight. came highly rated by friends who visit oak island every year as their favorite seafood restaurant. lived up to expectations. very casual. they take your name at the door and tell you to go on in and help yourself to any drink, go outbackon the dock and enjoy the view until they come for you. when they call your name, they ask for some personal item like a hat to mark your table ( which the waitress takes to the table) while you go inside to the counter and order from the menu written on the blackboard. gobackto your table and in just a few minutes there's a waitress walking through calling out your name and bringing your food to the table. when you finish, just gobackto the counter and they have the little note with your order, tell them the drink you had, and you're on your way. really a great system. of course, they depend on people to be honest. ran into a vacationing friend from home while i was there. was told this is the local's favorite too.

great food, great beer, great views. a vacation in oak island took us to this hidden spot in southport for a weekday lunch. (thanks to the tour guides @ the oak island lighthouse for the recommendation...which is very cool to climb to the top on thursdays!) the spot has a great vibe. you walk in and order food off the chalkboard. drinks are on the honor system and are located opposite of the order counter. you hydrate yourself and settle up at the end. we ordered a fried food feast! once the food is ready, they bring it out on a tray and holler your name...listen up!

conch fritters - lots of breading but good
onion rings - very good. the batter was light and not the bread crumb kind. (recommend)
crab cakes (with a side of extra old bay) - okay. lots of filling, little crab. we had the crab cakes ala carte...they might be better as a sandwich.
cheeseburger - very good. my husband had it and i stole half once i tried my crabcake. a good choice.

the atmosphere is great. it's right on the water and there is a dock on thebackside where you can see boaters tying up for a bite to eat. we got there early and had a table no problem but there was a line out the door by the time we went to pay and leave. (go early or late!)

we stopped across the street afterwards for some ice cream at their sister store. the service was as cold as the ice cream. literally the lady didn't say a word when we came in. we ordered, she scooped, handed us the ice cream and still nothing. the ice cream was okay - small portions for the price and the ice cream was very cold so it took forever to scoop. save the calories...
