larry managed to fix up the best burger i've ever had in my life. try the smoke house burger and you will not be disappointed! winchells is by far the best restaurant in town! if you don't agree then you can deal with me, galin the great!

yuck. my husband, little girl and i went here about a week ago. first of all, the whole place smells funny. can't really describe what the odor is, but it wasn't good. the food was very expensive for what it was. i tasted my daughters fries and they tasted like they had been fried in old oil-disgusting. my salad, which was very expensive, had very little toppings and was not worth even half the price they were charging. i was very disappointed. my husband seemed satisfied with his dinner (some kind of beef smothered in gravy with mashed potatoes), but i will not be back.

winchell's used to be very good, but this time i left feeling very disappointed. the special fried pickle appetizer was not as good as something from a fast food restaurant. the bbq sandwich (which used to be good) was not served as the menu described with coleslaw. the rest of the food was bland. our server also seemed to be paying more her "regulars" than making sure we had what we needed. won't be returning for a while.

once again... bland food, small portions, overpriced. has anyone left this place satisfied??

friendly service, overpriced, small portions (comically small wings)... extremely overrated.

we come to winchell's almost every sunday. the food is always great and the bloody mary is just as good. the thing that really keeps us coming back is the great service and conversation from the bartender robin.

lack of consistency. the chicken pot pie went from a delicate flakey top crust to leftover morning biscuits. filling was skimpy at best with literally two small shreads of chicken. to top it off it was $10.

pot pie???. usually i am not disappointed when i stop by winchell's for a lunch to go order other than the kitchen being too slow for most lunch service, but it
is ususally worth the wait. not today. a $10 pot pie was nothing more than chicken a la king with too much white pepper in a styrofoam cup and two bisuits in another cup. their lunch prices are more in line with a dinner menu. lunch specials ranged from 9.99 to $14.99 - too high for working folks on their lunch hour. we're in a recession folks!

great food, weird atmosphere. i've never had a bad meal at winchell's. i most recently had the trout and eggs brunch with jalapeno cheese grits and it was as delicious as it sounds. the restaurant itself is a strange combination--great food made from scratch in a sports bar. there are always screaming kids and you're surrounded by big-screen tvs, which might add to the charm if you're into that kind of thing. i have to be in the right mood for this place, but when i go, i'm never disappointed.

great place for breakfast. we went there this past weekend and it was amazing. the country ham is cooked very well, the eggs were perfect. the potatoes were just crispy enough, and the mimosas were some of the best i've had in town. my better half said the bloody mary was good (i think the pub has a much better bloody) and the bacon looked a little too soft for my liking.

great breakfast and good pub food. every time i've been here i've been surprised by how good the dish i got tasted. it may look like a bar inside but the quality of the food has been consistent for me whether it was pancakes or steaks.

best hot brown in town. i've eaten here for breakfast lunch and dinner. never had a bad meal and often have outstanding meals. the ky eggs benedict are great! country ham in place of canadian bacon, fried eggs and hollandaise sauce ; to die for. lunch-i always order the fish tacos when they have them. i love them. another surprisingly good thing is the vinegar slaw. i don't normally like cole claw but this is great. for a dinner caloric splurge the hot brown is the best i've ever had!!!

don't order carry out. i called and placed a pick up order today at about 10 till noon. two small lunch specials, told that it would be ready for pick up at 12:15. their website shows saturday lunch starting at 11:00. showed up only to be told by the bartender lady (who was very nice) that they havn't even started the meals as they were just now wrapping up breakfast and they wouldn't even be able to start my meals for another 5 minutes or so making my lunch ready at apprx. 12:30. needless to say i was on a short lunch break and could not wait and had to cancel my order altogether. the bartender lady there again was very nice and extremely apologetic, but still i was quite disappointed and would expect a little more out of a family run, local business.

surprisingly delicious. we moved here several years ago, and when someone first took me to winchell's i wasn't too thrilled: it *is* a bar, and it *does* have typical bar food, but in addition it deftly made, delicious, creative dishes! my first shock was the arugula-blue cheese-portabella mushroom-country ham salad. say what? it was delicious! the tomato basil soup is made with fresh tomatoes and fresh basil, not that canned crap some places serve. the orange trout is one of the few dishes in the whole town of lexington that our exceedingly picky adult daughter will eat and actually rave about when she visits from austin.

always check out the specials on the blackboard, because those are truly "special" and delicious. i had the mahi-mahi tacos once, and i still think about them as a standard when someone says "fish tacos." and the veggies .... their kale is the best in town, as is their garlic broccoli (which i think is a special and not always on the menu).

their typical bar food is a notch above, but i recommend reading the menu carefully to skip the fried foods (as delicious as they are) and find the hidden gems or order off the blackboard.

my all time favorite place. this place is delicious! i've lived in lex for a few years now, and have yet to find a place i'd rather go for american food. they make everything from scratch, even their sauces and condiments. the buffalo sauce is delicious, but i'd only recommend the hot if you can handle really really spicy foods. the chicken livers are to die for. the breakfast is the best in town, and the atmosphere is really laid back. do yourself a favor and try it!

my hubby and i stopped in tonight and were seated quickly. friendly staff, and pretty big menu selection. i ordered the chicken with mac and cheese, good- but nothing to brag about. the hubs ordered shrimp and grits and was pleasantly surprised. the prices seem a little high for what you get. the place could use some updating and the bathrooms were scarey. we would eat there again, but doubt we will hurry back.
