service was great by marion. was going to order off themenubut decided to try the mediterranean buffet. started with the greek salad and the soup. both wonderful. then moved on to the rest of the selection which for a buffet had a nice selection. the little things like the different kinds of whipped butter for the buns was a nice touch as well. not your typical hotel resteraunt.

frequented:  i have to say that i have always been here on a good day for the buffet and the fewmenuitems i have ordered have always been pretty tasty also.  service is always good.  the atmosphere can get loud and there is a lack of areas to eat where you can have a nice conversation while eating and drinking.  the patio sucks so don't.  but... the pizza here great!  way better than famoso if you like this style of pizza.   pizza and a pint fridays for $10,  one of the best things to do downtown!

what can i say, this restaurant is classy, affordable and has an atmosphere much like home. i love how the staff are so friendly, helpful and prompt with my order and most of all i love the delicious food! i know as a business person in the downtown area it is hard to find a place that i can get a quick meal in under an hour, yet i can invite a friend or make a reservation for a business meeting and i have always been guaranteed a table and a delicious meal in under an hour!  i have enjoyed the wild sage experience on numerous occasions and i keep promoting it as the best kept secret in regina!  themenuhas quite the variety and the buffet never disappoints.  i have yet to experience something i ordered that i didn't like.  i have taken my office for a birthday lunch there and everyone enjoyed their meals.  so no complaints from me, just compliments to the staff, the chef and the managers for a great dining experience!  i will continue to go back again and again!

we find ourselves in regina quite often do to work, and one of us makes the sage lounge our office.  there is much to love about this place outside the food, especially as a business traveler.

outrageously good: chicken wings
highly recommended: breakfast buffet, pancakes, blt, burgers, falafel
not to our taste: honey stung chicken

ambiance and service

the ambiance is what you would expect from a hotel restaurant. the decor is minimalist, modern and very neutral, not focusing much on atmosphere.  in the evening they dim the lights which makes the bar area cozy. seats are pretty comfortable and tables are large, which we find important in a hotel restaurant, plenty of room for your laptop or paperwork. we have gotten quite familiar with the staff, and always feel it's a good sign when you don't see a lot of turn-over; usually, this suggests the management is in good order.  it's also popular enough that you can overhear people ordering "the usual", so staff pays attention to their regulars. what i like most is that we are utterly unrushed. when settling in for 5 hours to get some work done (and we've done this on many occasions) there is never any pressure to keep ordering nor to pay our bill and leave.  when we let them know we're settling in, they really give us a lot of privacy and space, leaving it up to us to get their attention if we want something, which in these circumstances is perfectly appropriate. we have even spent hours here having nothing but tea, and the waiters have treated us with the same consideration as when we have a big meal with wine.  we also find this place great for business meetings as you can find yourself a table with no one immediately around to overhear anything and volume is comfortable so you can have a civilized conversation.

the food
the food has improved considerably, there must be a new chef or a change over in the kitchen staff. 2017 has been a notable improvement in the quality and variety of dishes. they have also started to change up themenuwhich is quite nice, we've just starting to explore the menu. they have also started to change up themenuwhich is quite nice.

chicken wings: they're amazing, possibly the best we've ever had. so addictive, we can't visit wild sage without ordering them. they reach a crunchy bliss point that just makes our souls melt with happiness.  with the lovely light spice coating, they're so good, you don't really need a sauce. however, they do come with a delicious selection of 4 sauces so you can enjoy a variety of taste.
breakfast buffet:  we only have it if we're in a rush, but it seems a very popular choice for other diners.  it has all the standards with a couple of variations from day to day. we love the fresh mini croissants, the sausages are a good quality, fruit is tasty and fresh, and we love the omelet station. you can also ask for a soft boiled egg if you like. if you're particularly creative you can put together some delicious porridges (i recommend stirring in peanut butter and slicing some banana on top) and breakfast sandwiches (fried egg with cut up sausage and some baked beans is my favorite).

breakfast a la carte: we find them tolerant when we are ordering super healthy and just want a poached egg, some type of vegetable and a bit of fruit a la carte.  the coffee is okay, but not great, and we aren't fans of starbucks coffee since they burn the beans during roasting to maintain a constant flavour as their suppliers vary.  we personally stick to their tea selection, they use tazo which is a pretty good quality.pancakes: fluffy buttermilk pancakes with a lemon butter, saskatoons, and dusted with confectioner's sugar. these are amazing! sometimes they come out extra fluffy and the size of your plate, sometimes they come out a bit smaller, thicker and denser - we assume this has to do with who happens to be cooking them. however, each time they're amazing. the batter and lemon butter combination are so good, maple syrup is actually a distraction because it drowns all the lovely flavors.

honey stung chicken: we enjoyed this dish for a few bites, but then tired of it quickly. the description on themenuis quite misleading. it is easy to assume upon reading that there will be a bed of vegetable slaw with some crispy wontons for added texture. quite the opposite is true: this dish is basically a bowl of wonton chips with only a few slivers of vegetable for colour - a bit of a stretch to call that a "slaw". the spicy honey was delicious, and so were the tender bites of breaded chicken. while the bowl of wonton chips were nice and crispy without being greasy, it became a very flat dish after a while. the guilt of eating an entire bowl of fried batter also sunk in with each bite and made it harder to eat. in the end, we just picked out the chicken and left a lot of wonton chips behind.

i was pleasantly surprised at the ambience, service and food here given it's ina hotel chain. and it has live music in thursday nights which may or may not attract people. it was a bit loud and i suggest they move it to the licensed lobby area but i still enjoyed it. the meal was quite good. i had the sliders (three different kinds (one of each). i particularly liked the one with the saskatoon jam or sauce. very tasty. and the pretzel buns were very nice. i had that paired with the beet salad. the only quibble i had was that it was a bit hefty for a starter (didn't eat it all for fear i wouldn't have room for the sliders) and there wasn't enough goat cheese on it. my friend had the bacon cheese hamburger and fries. he said the burger was very good (again a pretzel bun) and the fries were fresh and crisp. service was a little slow at the beginning (waited a bit to give our drink order) but after that very smooth and efficient. the server was experienced and friendly. would go back for sure since themenuwas interesting and varied.

i really love this restaurant . they use local foods and make the majority of their own foods like their amazing pretzel bun for their burgers . they even tell you on themenuwhere their meat is from and the majority of all food comes from here in saskatchewan . i have tried there appetizer of the white cheddar perigees and loved them ! taste like grandmas , probably because they come from a lady out of saskatoon who makes them . i had their bruschetta pizza and omg !! amazing the dough and crush are amazing ! hands down best pizza i have eaten here in the city . the second time i went back i tried their spaghetti , i was not disappointed ! also amazing ! they turn something so basic into amazing dishes . i have since referred this restaurant to friends and co workers and they all have thanked me and also enjoyed it .

an ok place in a beautiful hotel. wild sage is part of the newly renovated hilton double tree hotel in regina. the hotel lobby is beautiful and the restaurant/lounge atmosphere is not bad although the place does not tend to get too busy (i guess this can be advantageous if you're in a hurry). for me it is a convenient place (downtown) to go for a quick snack.
this restaurant has a lot of potential but needs improvement. there are some interesting items on the menu. here are some things that i enjoy there:
a) their pizza crust (better than can be found in most places in the city)
b) their aged cheddar perogie appetizer (among the best, if not the best perogies that i've had at a restaurant in regina)
here are some items that i found acceptable:
a) spring rolls
b) sliders
items that i did not enjoy:
a) beet salad
b) potato cubes
i will keep visiting the place because i would like to try more of theirmenuitems.
