very goodpizza- very bad service, at least, on the weekend. the problem is too many of the servers are only interested in being seen there and not actually doing their job. it's staffed by dopey millennials and must be managed by them too.

i had seen a post online that named the bestpizzain each state. wig and pen was named as the best in iowa, so of course we had to make a visit. they try and give you the feel of being in an english pub, and pull it off just fine. the place is clean and comfy, and the staff was very friendly. we spent quite a bit of time with the lady tending bar as we waited for our pizza. we had the stuffed carnivore. it took about 30-40 minutes for it to arrive but it was worth the wait. nice thick and hearty chicago style pizza. definitely one of the better pizzas i've had in this area, but having not tried them all i can't say "best in iowa" but easily a top 5 of the ones i've tried. worth a return trip for sure. nice place, friendly staff and good food, what else can you ask for.

a worthy duplicate of the original wig and pen in coralville, ia. the thin crustpizzawas very good and it went great with a cold beer.

chicago stylepizzais excellent. service was excellent! will be back. also anyone who orders chicago stylepizzashould know you will have to wait some time. that deep dish crust doesn't bake as fast as a regular pizza!!!!

great choice forpizzaand sandwiches. i eat at wig & pen a lot because virtually everything on the menu is great. their thin crustpizzaisthe best around here .i like the flying tomato style, but sometimes they go overboard on the cheese. their chicago style crust is ok...i order it the least of the three.

they do a good job on their pastas. the wigatoni is excellent and one order can feed two people. their spicy sausage is spicy.

their sandiwches are the hidden ogem of the menu, even though there's a full page of them. i haven't tried the reuben or blt, have tried the other sandwiches multiple times. my least favorite is the meatball sandiwch. it's ok. a fork is typically needed to eat this sandwich since the bun gets soggy. i always have high hopes when ordering this sandwich but am disappointed by the taste. maybe a little more spice is needed in the sauce and sausage.
the pubber is a great burger. it's always juicy and has a wonderful flavor. it's probably my favorite burger in town. when ordering a sandwich, order the homemade chips. way better than the fries and the fries are delicious!

they have some good lunch specials too. wednesday is all-you-can-eat soup and salad for $7 or so. their house dressing, a garlic parmesean, is really good. i don't know if it's homemade or comes in a 5-gallon container, i don't care, i'll still eat it. their soups are usually good too. on fridays, they serve a bbq pulled pork sandwich and side for $7. it's better than any other bbq sandwich in town. it's served right too...sandiwch with cole-slaw on the side which can be used as a sandwich topper, plus fries (or chips).

thepizzahas 3 different styles from thin crust to a chicago like deep dish. my wife and i like the thin crust - because it is lighter on cheese and is super crispy. the big tomato has more cheese, tomatoes slices on top, and on a thin crust. very good as well- but very cheesy. we have yet to try the chicago deep dish- looks good too. if you have tried it please let me know what you think. download the ankeny menu.

good thick crust pizza. the mushrooms were from the can though, which isn't my favorite. the cheese and jalapenos were good. a spicypizzawith plenty of leftovers. there were plenty of drink options. the wait to get thepizzawas lengthy with no apologies or reasoning as to the delay (they seemed dead). but it was worth it. the pricing was also reasonable.

stopped in for a carry outpizza& told i'd have to wait an hour. goodpizza- not that good!

well for 37 years i thought filippispizzain escondido california was the only 5 starpizzaon the planet. wig and pen,your flying tomato rocks. the crust is perfect,the sauce is perfect, the amount of cheese is perfect.pizzaperfection!!!

good experience. we had a good experience here a few months ago - we sat outside on the patio (nothing pretty to look at, but nice in summer months) and tried both the deep dish and a flying tomato. both good - and we had good service. we'll be returning soon (if it weren't for my husband's love of casey'spizzawe'd be back sooner)

went there for the iowa/wisconsin game. the place was dead. nothing like the wig in coralville. step it up ankeny!

friendly staff and greatpizzacombine for a great dining experience. the wigitoni is good, too. it's a family restaurant early in the evening and it can be a little noisy until the kids clear out.
