has the feeling of a steakhouse, but when you sit down you know they are serious about fish. lots of tempting choices including their signature dover sole. excellent service including hot towels after the spectacular tower of raw and boiled shellfish. the bonus hot rolls were delicious while you wait for the real food to show up. lobster and snow crab were well prepared with abundance of drawn butter on the side. perfect grill marks on the swordfish foretold a perfectly grilled fish. the desserts finished up an excellent meal - a little too much salt in the bread pudding and a little too much gelatin in the panna cotta, but those are nitpicking complaints about beautiful and delicious desserts. a little pricey, but what you expect in a restaurant this good.

water grill is one of the well known place in downtown. but somehow it wasn't on my "wanna go" list because when i saw the menu, nothing really caught my eye. when my friend suggested this place, i wasn't that excited but well, ok, i never been so let's try. the menu was very simple so it was easy for me to choose. our server was very nice but really slow. and everything is overpriced. probably most expensive and high calories lobster roll i've ever had. instead of paying $29 here, pay $19 at hinoki & the bird . menu complimentary bread to start off not so good crisfield, maryland blue crab cake $16 ..was delicious new england lobster roll $29 comes with fries. the bun was too buttery for me. also too much mayo for me. it was tasty but not worth the price. my friend ordered 8oz. filet mignon $33. my friend tried it and didn't like it, only ate 1/4. should have just send it back.. what a waste. also there was no sauce for the steak. braised kale with greek yogurt and hazelnut $7 since m

watergrill serves excellent, top notch, 5-star seafood, for any seafood lovers out here. the restaurant itself is a bit pricey, but worth every penny, considering the experience you receive from eating at this restaurant. this includes staff - manager, wait - along with the inner decor and food. the company itself, king's seafood, has an awareness regarding overfishing, and makes efforts to maintain healthy fish populations from their fishing sources for their seafood. this makes watergrill stand out in comparison to other restaurants. a+ restaurant!!

amazing food and service

we stumbled upon water grill because we were staying across the street at the hilton checkers hotel. the service from our waitress (i forget her name!) made us feel like royalty, and the food was incredibly fresh. the menu has a pretty wide range of options - i had the pasta with shrimp and my husband had the cioppino.

the ambiance was great, too, especially for a sunday night.

excellent seafood in a downtown location

we had dinner here before our concert at disney hall. i can recommend this restaurant to all seafood lovers. the clam chower is excellent and any fish you order will be prepared to your liking. very good service adds to the experience. a little pricey but absolutely worth it for a quality seafood dinner...

the atmosphere at the water grill is definitely upscale and the menu prices are right on par with that. but overall, it's mediocre at best. there are better places in la to eat. go to them.

fast paced urban meets old school charm. a friend who fell in love with this place 15 'years ago, but he has traveled the world as i found myself i the las angeles area, he would not be dissuaded and insisted we find this old favorite, so as a skeptic. i followed him here. i was slightly impressed upon entering; but the staff, attentiveness, and even though my friend and i disagreed about certain selections, between the two of us we loved everything served. gm brian buonarti not only took care of me but everyone as if they were all royalty i must also applause out server ben. (hennessy perhaps). everything was incredibly.

take business partners. it's definitely a place you should take special guests or business partners. however, for a seafood restaurant, the seafood is not very good. it's not bad but for the price, i expected good seafood but it was just mediocre.
