the wasabi is just next to main lobby . once you reach the bar lounge , you need to take a small lift to the wasabi. typical japanese restuarant counter seating next to the chefs with high chairs at one side and few tables on the sea side view front . i was planning to go for the omakase menu, that is small portions of chefs recommendation.
we decided to go for the table with a view overlooking the gateway.
my requirement was to go beyond the standard sushi rolls and explore japanese cuisine with a wide variety and have a sumptuous meal. i was glad i spoke with the staff and one of them understood what i exactly wanted .
he suggested that we go in for the lunch setmenuwhich would give a wide range of authentic japanese sampling with sizeable portions .
so we ordered the kaiseki zen.
started off with a fresh salad leaves with caramelised onions and bit of soya sauce . nice and fresh , next was the sea food soup cup with clam and crab . this was really palatable considering i am not a sea food fan and mostly i would have given a skip at other restaurants . the overbearing smell and taste of sea food is a put off for me but here is was just right . my wife being a sea food fan just was bowled over by the soup. next was the complete spread , a basket of tempura some vegetables and prawns , 8 pieces of sushi rolls , some rice and the lip smacking black cod fish and pork belly in a sauce with mushrooms . lots of soya sauce wasabi and some pickled vegetables. even the small pieces of black beans as a part of accompaniments were delicious.
next followed by green tea ice cream and transparent pudding. one of the best meals i have had in a while . in case you are not one of those who is conversant with this cuisine , i would recommend to go for the lunch set menu. there are multiple options and have a pic of the variety for you to check out. also the omakase is priced at around 7-8 k , the lunch setmenuaround 4-5 so it's really value for money. this is not offered for dinner. i must thank stafford for understanding what i want and guiding me . i am sure all the staff are good but i can vouch for stafford .

moksha!!!!!!!!my mumbai culinary trek culminates by attaining moksha at the wasabi japanese restaurant at the taj.
1.minimalist decor 2.celebrity presence.there was a celebrity cricketer in the adjoining table adding that wow factor. 3.knowledgeable and helpful service by trained personnel  4.amazing freshness of products.these guys actually rub and prepare the wasabi in front of you, something i have not even seen in japan.japanese cuisine cannot succeed without fresh produce. 5.brilliant presentation. 6.a brilliantmenuwith chefs tasting choice if in doubt.
we ordered miso soup and a prawn tempura, followed by a mixed sushi and sashimi platter,a sashimi platter, lamb chops with rice, and an amazing dessert.all of them uniformly brilliant in taste, texture, presentation, quantity and aftertaste.even the green tea was a revealation.added bonus was the lovely view of the gateway of india.the only point of debate can be the price but where on earth does quality, excellence, exclusivity and snob value come cheap?????

truley international.... the best sushi in india. they are known for there authentic japanese cusine. the quality is unmatched.
my mouth is watering when i m writing this review. it's totally worth visiting if you like sushi. you will get lost in the taste. wasabi is probably the only sushi restaurant in india which can be appaulded to all aspects including ambience, service ,presentation and above all for there authentic japanese taste.
i went along with my friends and almost stayed for two hours . they have a fixedmenuwhich they call as chef's choice.... it includes appetisers , starters , main course and desserts to end your food with. the waiters are well informed too and they guide you through the menu. highly recommended.

if you are thinking of a celebration here, think again. being vegetarian, i was aware about the limitations in themenubut the overdose of mayo in all the makis was a bit annoying. also, the wasabi is not freshly grated in front of you... not anymore as some of the reviews suggest.

we had: avo tacos... which was good, white asparagus tempura and black garlic with truffle sushi... highly okay.

no free entre as some reviews suggest. you eat what you pay for. there was no complimentary cake either... overall, wished i had chosen some other place for celebrating the occasion!

recently, we visited this upscale restaurant in taj mahal palace hotel, gateway of india, colaba. located in the cities most luxurious hotel with amenucurated by the famous chef morimoto, this posh restaurant is frequented by celebrities and industrialists.

the interiors were a delight and gave a modern look to the restaurant. if it's your first visit, we recommend you sit by the sushi bar and enjoy as the chef(s) flawlessly curate each dish (a special shout out to chef harpreet singh, for making our experience wonderful).

we tried their omakase or chef's select dishes for a multi-course recommended menu. though daunting at first, themenuis a fine selection of fresh ingredients giving a rich and truly japanese experience. with a lot of it's ingredients, especially wasabi, being flown in from japan, is an icing on the top. usually, we like only the sushi at japanese restaurants, and the main course lets us down. however, here, we loved the main course as well and our favourite was the sushi perigod roll. overall, we enjoyed each course and would recommend you to try it out for sure.
their hospitality is impeccable.
p.s.: this is (probably) the only place in town which serves truly authentic wasabi.

ambience : tiny lift from the harbour bar takes u to the first floor which has just about 7 tables. most of them facing the gateway of india

service : the service is very attentive they keep coming to your table after each dish and ask your feedback and definitely take ur feedback quite seriously for eg i did t like the avocado salad as it was too dry so chef made me a different one.

food : starters :avacado sushi tempura were interesting and so was the wasabi tacos and pizza . their corn chestnut are really good . the curry and rice was ok .avacado salad after was re done was good. they have tasting chefmenufor 7500 bucks per person which is set 7 course meal

i had visited this place with a date. i made a reservation early during the day. keep in mind i do not belong to the group of people who visit a place this fancy often.
i had received a taj experience card which i confirmed will work while making the reservation.

after hearing so much about this place me and my partner were hyped. we dressed up in formals and reached on time.

after taking a small walk around this magnificent taj hotel. we entered the lower bar where we were greeted by a lady and guided to a transparent lift. already feeling the fancy side of life we entered the first floor. the restaurant is small but grand. the ceilings high like the palace within. the place look extravagant and the people working there looked like they take service very seriously.

after being welcomed with a warm smile we guided to a table towards the middle. it was great but my partner and i slowly gazed towards the table by the window directly facing the gateway of india.

when i took a look at atmenui was a little confused as to what to order. i was immediately helped by the server and my partner. i ordered the shrimp with tuna belly sushi and since my date was veg we ordered black garlic with truffle. the service was on time and we were entertained with an mouth cleansing food.

ordering for a drink is difficult as the first drinkmenui had only showed japaneese drinks such as sake and rice whiskey which i am not a fan of. i later requested for a drinkmenuwhich had all the other drinks.

the sushi really blew my mind away. i could not fathom how complicated and mouthwatering that dish was. i tried the veg as well. it was lovely.

for the mains i decided to try newzeland lamb chops. in veg we ordered for lily bud with truffle. both were unique and the ingredients tasted very rich.

the dessert was chocolate and plum eclair with chocolate ice cream. its was amazing by general standards but when compared to the entire meal the dessert really didn’t stand out like the food

to sum it up it was a 10/10 experience filled with pleasure and great conversation.

i came here with my family for my birthday celebration and to day that i had an absolute ball of a time would be an understatement.
the food is lip smacking, so precise and such a brilliant balance of flavours!
we ordered vegetarian tastingmenuand had some soup, appetisers and sushi.
we weren't disappointed at all and everything went above and beyond our expectations. the staff is extremely polite and very helpful.
the pastry they gave me to cut was so tasty and it was topped with a macaroon, fresh blueberries, cranberries and raspberries!
beyond happy to have had such an experience!
definitely, 100% coming back!

had been wanting to visit wasabi by morimoto for long.. and found a right occasion to do so.. the booking was seemless got the best table (was rather happy as i had called in late and had got a seat at the sushi bar which later got upgraded to the best table that the one by the window).
started with sake ( got to sample three types before i decided which one to order) along with the cold appetizer avocado tartare - the creamy avocado with the tangy sauce and the chilled spoon just cleansens the palate before 1 takes the plunge in the japanese cuisine. next up was the mushroom pizza the soft puff pastry and the delicious mushroom topping a must have. tofu with the sesame peanut sauce ( though off themenuthe server was sweet enough to arrange it on request). the avocado asparagus sushi roll and the black garlic sushi roll were the best for the last. couldn't have asked for a better end to the dinner. the service was prompt and the server well informed of the menu. very happy with the food service and ambience.

wasabi, based in the taj hotel is an amazing restaurant. they market the restaurant as a fine dining restaurant but it lacked the formal atmosphere. it's was recognized as one of asia's world's 50 best in 2016 & i believe that they could get back the title if they make a few changes. they need to implement a formal dress code as opposed to casual wear.

chef morimoto is so skilled. we opted to go with their tastingmenuso that we could try a quite few dished from themenu. the precision that went into preparing the white fish carpaccio was mind altering. the sushi was prepared with such supremacy & the wasabi paste was freshly prepared at our table. we have never tasted sushi this good.

the hot dishes were bursting with asian flavours that kept you wanting more. we had their tetsunabe gyoza & a duck shitake mini burger. for mains the braised black cod was a winner! and they serve the most amazing truffle rice dish as a side.

we ended off dinner on a sweet note with the yuzu caramel chocolate & a matcha bamboo eclaire.

i felt that for a "fine dining" restaurant they should get a sommelier in to pair wines with each course. this would take the experience up a notch. for the price that we paid, i think that having a sommelier should be a given.

all in all though, the food was really exceptional!

went for the chefsmenu- omakase. it was surreal. the best japanese food i've had. we ordered one veg and a non veg experience. the portions seemed small at first but we realised the courses were non ending and when we thought we have eaten the main course the real main course came :)
the attendants were impeccable as well with good knowledge of japanese cuisine and culture.
