walker bros. original pancake house

a visit to chicago wouldn't be complete without having breakfast in walker bros.

i had a wonderfulfoodexperience when my cousins brought me here. my ultimate flavor combination, sweet and savory, was granted when i ordered the chipotle chicken crepe and apple cinnamon pancake.

the crepe was light and fluffy. it had the works --- sauteed chicken breast with onions, mushrooms, bell peppers and chipotle sauce. i'm not a fan of chicken breast but with all the flavors, it becamse delish. the potato pancakes was a good pairing. anything starchy is needed.

if you have a sweet tooth, the apple cinnamon pancake is an excellent choice.

for a filipino like me, the portions were generous. good for sharing especially the cinnamon cake.

went for dinner. restaurant was dirty, service was terrible (!!!!) andfoodwas mediocre. absolutely terrible dining experience. go to lincolnshire location or pick another place.

walker brothers original pancake house has been lauded by both national and local publications as having the best breakfast in the chicagoland area. take it from me - thefoodat walker brothers is great.

outstanding!. walker bros is worth the hype--don't listen to anyone who says it isn't.

for one thing, thefoodis outstanding. you can't go wrong with anything on the menu and there is something for anyone. the apple pancake is a gooey, cinnamon-y standout but i would highly recommend any of their omelettes or crepes, especially the french crepe or cherry kijafa. and make sure you order some orange juice--they hand make it and you willnever taste anything so fresh.

as for the service, the only complaint i have is the long line on weekend mornings, but it tends to move fairly quickly. even when it's out the door i've never had to wait more than 30 mins tops for a table. the waitstaff is very friendly and attentive as well as the hosts. there is an especially lovely redheaded host named lindsay or lizzy who is drop-dead gorgeous as well as very polite. if you come in the mornings ask for annie's section; she's great and very entertaining as well.

my family and i have been regulars for years and will continue to be; i highly recommend the highland park walker brothers as the best breakfast place on the north shore
