truly a great restaurant and bar. easily competes with trendy scottsdale joints, except i feel much more welcome and relaxed here, plus i don't have to see every 22 year old dude who wears bedazzled jeans try to pick up girls and get drunk on bud light. the wine list is great and changing all, the time as the owner (who is also the sommelier) finds more delicious wines to offer. the drinks from the bar are always top notch; they only have one bartender and she is great, so you know the drinks will be consistently good. i go there quite often just for drinks because of the nice atmosphere and quality liquor. as far as the food, i have never had a single bad dish there. everything from the appetizers through the salads, entrees, and especially the desserts, are wonderful. the chef is a genius who uses her knowledge of french cuisine to influence all kinds of dishes, but still serve american-size portions. everything from the steaks and duck to something as simple as the french fries are excellent. a great restaurant for a nice quiet date. i also like that they have a tv behind the bar, but instead of the usual sportscenter crap, they play classic french movies with english subtitles (no sound from the movie, so it doesn't interfere with the music). a nice touch to keep it classy. i would say the ambience is somewhat of a relaxed classiness; a nice pair of shorts and a nice polo would fit in, but a button down shirt tucked into non-denim pants and a nice cocktail dress for the ladies would look even more appropriate. easily my favorite restaurant in the west valley, and in the top 5 for the phoenix area.

very good restaurant. i wouldn't call it french. perhaps an american bistro with french overtones. the wine list was diverse and had a lot of "by the glass" options. the food was quite good. i had the vogue salad andy wife had the beet salad and both were very tasty. my wife had the duck confit which was well-seasoned and tender as it should be with wonderful potatoes. i had the vogue steak and fries. the steak was prepared perfectly with a wonderful sauce and the hangar steak was quite tender and a very generous portion. we shared a bottle of a beautiful napa cabernet that they decanted for us. it paired nicely with both dishes. for dessert, my wife had the pistachio gelato and i had the creme brûlée which was devine. the service was also very attentive but not obtrusive. all in all, i would definitely recommend vogue bistro.

our favorite restaurant. we love this quaint restaurant in surprise. we've been to vogue bistro several times in the past and enjoyed great ambiance, exceptional food and warm reception that owners and servers always offered to us. even though we moved to glendale last year we still try to visit vogue as often as we can. coming from new york and having traveled throughout the europe i can say with certainty that there isn't a better food than chef aurore's. she is a diamond in the rough. we always start with fresh oysters on half shell. last time we both ordered chef aurore's specials. i had a chilean seabass with razor clams, farro, organic vegetables and champagne sauce and my husband had a giant bone-in ribeye with mushrooms, a very tasty savory tart and malbec wine sauce. our dessert was an assorted array of freshly made chocolate truffles, gelatos and crème brullees that the owner, aurore's husband treated us to for our anniversary. the food was simply exceptional. our server was attentive and eager to please. he suggested a wonderful pinot noir for us. the couple who sat next to us came all the way from cave creek because nobody in the valley prepares a better duck than chef aurore. after dinner we spent some time at the bar enjoying andrea bocelli concert in tuscuny and shared a fabulous chocolate martini. i'm so jealous of everyone, who lives in surprise, to have such a treasure right in the neighborhood. we can't wait to go back.

extraordinary restaurant. we love this small family owned place. we've been coming here for the past 5 months after reading a great review in az republic. on our last visit we had an amazing rack of lamb, a salad and the best tiramisu i've ever tasted, a three course dinner for $29, which we thought was very reasonable. the portion was large and sever was nice enough to give us a heads up so we shared the entire meal. we both have days off on mondays and in our neck of the woods there aren't any good restaurants open on mondays except for chain places. for years we've been going to arrowhead and past couple of years to the westgate, and now we can have a martini (or two) and drive only 5 min to our house. thank you vogue for coming to surprise! a couple of money saving tips for those of you who frequently visits vogue. go to their website and sign up for vip program: you'll get $25 gift cert for every $300 spent; also they will email you all their promo dinners and specials, as well as invitations to wine dinners planned in the future (can't wait for those). download all current specials and coupons from their website's events page. on one of our visits we've printed out a coupon for a free martini with a purchase of an entrée. next time i'm bringing my girl-friends for lunch to try their famed panini sandwiches, which they offer, unfortunately, only at lunch time. we definitely will be coming back. i hope this is helpful for those looking for a great local spot.

a nice non-chain restaurant in the west valley. nice to see a non-chain restaurant in the west valley. had a reservation for 6:30pm on a saturday night and glad we did, the place was packed! vogue bistro is very small and intimate. you can see what the people next to you ordered and listen in on their conversation. our waitress was nice, however she went on and on and on about the menu, specials, drinks, etc. then, she would disappear for long amounts of time. very strange. we decided to order the calamari appetizer, beet salad and eggplant parmesan entree. the calamari appetizer was more fried carrots than calamari. you really had to poke around to find the calamari. i didn't care for the sauce they served it with either. the beet salad was pretty decent. it had a huge chunk of goat cheese, which i love. the salad could have used a little more dressing, however. the eggplant parmesan was delicious. it came out baked in a fluffy pastry-like bread. it was total comfort food and i would definitely recommend it, especially to vegetarians. despite our waitress being mia, especially toward the end of the night when we wanted to pay our bill and leave and forgetting to bring out our warm bread we requested, vogue bistro is a cute, little restaurant. perfect for a date night. make sure you like your date though, because you can expect to spend a lot of time there. also, try and sit on the patio. it's nicer, quieter and a litte more spacious. weather permitting, of course.

the appetizers were excellent - foie gras and japanese oysters. that said, the sauce goethe fillet mignon was reminiscent of a tv dinner, the duck confit was extremely overdone and the scallops were overcooked, and the sauce was overseasoned by large margin. can't comment on drinks as my group were all not drinking. i give the whole experience a b-

what a great experience!!!. first of all, likemy2boyz, a reviewer was completely inaccurate in my experience. i completely agree with the email that was written back to him in response to his complaint. i personally spoke with the owner who had written the response himself and totally agree that if this reviewer did not like the restaurant, he did not need to come back. the restaurant that roman and his wife, chef aurore, have created is exceptional in service and excellent in their cooking. we called and made our reservations at the last minute and still was given a table in such short notice without complaint. our waitress, ray, was exceptional. she was very persistent as to see how we were doing and refilled our drinks on a regular basis. the atmosphere in the bistro was very comfortable. they played french music and movies where the sound was at just the right level. when we looked around we saw that the restaurant was family owned and it was a great atmosphere for anyone.
normally, in my experiences, a restaurant in this type of venue, children are looked down upon when entering the restaurant and receive a lot of stares. not this one!!! the chef and owners 7 year old daughter was very charming and welcoming to the customers. we arrived with 3 children 6, 10, and 11 years of age. automatically, she asked her mother to come and greet us to see if they would accept her invitation to play. she was a very sweet little girl and the kids would love to return again just to see her. our 6 year old asked to return for her 7th birthday. i am very pleased to know that kids are welcome in such an upscale venue. the restaurant was very family oriented.
now about the menu and food... the menu gave such a great french vibe. the food was excellent and was the best french cuisine that i have ever seen in the greater phoenix area. our family had many different menu items, but the dessert stuck out the most. the berry cobbler and crume brulee was excellent. such a great last taste of this wonderful restaurant. the menu was reasonably priced for the wonderful food. the chef introduced herself to our table along with the owner at the end of our meal. it was an exquisite dining experience and i will return sooner than not. i give them 5 stars without the pretentious 5 star atmosphere which is a plus since it was in comfortable surprise instead of typical scottsdale. don't miss this opportunity!!!

rude rude rude!!!. the resturaunt has comment cards with limited space so i emailed the place to let the know about my night with a irritated hostess because we didn't have reservations, wobbly plastic furniture, over cooked food, a salad that still had a produce sticker & an inconsiderate waiter/mngr who put the shade up for another table yet blinded my table..... this is the email i got back....

well, what can i say other than im glad you've fulfilled your destiny as a pathetic habitual complainer lacking class and decency. i don't appreciate
your attitude your narrow minded approach and your ignorance of the fact that a small family owed restaurant attempted to defy odds and deliver quality dining to a community bound to fast food chains and mediocre diners. one thing i can tell with certainty is you don't deserve to be in our restaurant --- you belong in applebees and outbacks of this world. please do not ever come back. we don't need customers like you. on the positive ....keep on complaining about your burgers...maybe this violent world will become a better place some day. so long."

magnifique!. dine @ vogue and experience the many wonderful gastronomical heritages of france. i am going to be bold and state that chef aurore serves the best foie gras on american soil! the duck confit w/ potatoes and greens was tender and flavorful. the service is polite and attentive. "the cake" was enjoyed the next am for breakfast. cocktail list is extensive. the menu is priced so everyone can enjoy a real french meal.

cozy and quaint. i recently visited vogue for the first time after passing by it all the time. i stopped in just to check it out as the name sounded interesting to me. the place is small but nicely decorated. the hostess was friendly and so was the bartender. i ordered a signature designer peach martini "escada". it was flavorful and worth the price (don't remember either 8 or 9 dollars). the calamari was ok, the tempura carrot bed seemed to be a bit much for the few calamari but still very tasty and a good selection for an appetizer. i definately want to visit again and plan on inviting my girlfriends for martinis and dinner.

closing soon.... i give this place 6 months from now before it closes. we went in at 7pm on a friday night and you could hear crickets chirping in the place (25% of capacity and that does not include the outdoors seating). the menu is okay, except for i've seen all of these dishes before at trendier and better scottsdale restaurants. for example, the vogue burger is a carbon copy of the superior "delux burger." gorgonzola/blue cheese, apple-wood bacon, arugula, etc. the food was fine, but not impressive or stellar. we had some toasted baguette with fig and gorgonzola which was okay. i had the vogue burger expecting around the quality of the delux, but was disappointed. my wife had the salmon, which looked to be overdone and definitely not very flavorful. also, the orzo was under-cooked. mind you, i have personally seen 80% of the dishes on the menu at other places so none of this is original. the waitress was very young and not at all seasoned. she let our drinks expire for 10 minutes or more and only checked on us once. overall, just not an impressive place. i'd rather drive the 40 minutes to somewhere with the same menu, but better prepared with solid service.
