the beer selection is excellent. we had 2 pizzas - bacon, sausage and roasted garlic. these pies are not the thin crust you would get at 5th street. they are a bit thicker but cooked a bit longer so the crust is nice and crispy. normally this is not the kind of pizza i would go for but it was excellent

downside. i'd hate to see this place in the light. very dirty. i'd be afraid to see how the pizza is made!

don't advertise what you won't do. says they accept orders until 1 am but if you call at 12 29 am they won't take your order or maybe the guy that answered the phone thinks he's better than you and is to lazy to do his job

good pizza, but little else. if you like thin crust, you like the pizza at the idiot. also there is a good beer selection, some decent entertainment, but little else...they are a good bar, that makes a decent pizza, not really a destination if you are looking for the most amazing pizza in toledo. expect a 'bar crowd', complete with locals for your people watching amusement. we went there the other night and i have to say it was busy...

wow!. grew up in maumee, but only get back for 10-year reunions. this is one of those. discovered village idiot strolling conant street, reminiscing. excellent! had a dark beer (don't recall name, but it was tap-drawn) that was superb. had a pizza that was great also. and the folks at the bar and the pizza window are friendly! might be another ten years, but i'll definitely be back!!!

my friends and i have always included this bar in our pub crawls around the city and it has never let us down. great pizza and a wide choice of drinks. atmosphere is fun and relaxed and a great place for lunch.

living in the glass city where you are bombarded by chain restaurants on every street corner it can get quite frustrating trying to find a unique place that breaks the mold. the village idiot is that place and then some, with a fantastic jukebox, fun staff, off the wall decor, live music, stellar beer selection, great location in the heart of downtown maumee, etc. saying that, i must say that by far hands down the #1 reason i recommend and love this place is the pizza. the toppings are very genorous to say the least (see picture). i recommend taking your time and building your own pizza, with the bevy of toppings to choose from it can be overwhelming. i go with the hand sliced pepperoni (placed under the cheese), italian sausage and either bananna peppers, carmelized onions or garlic (this is me warning you the reader, that the garlic they place on your pie are the size of tater tots. you will feel this topping up to 36 hours after intake. color you warned). in closing, if your looking for a change of pace from the toledo area norm, check out the village idiot in downtown maumee.
