villa tronco italian restaurant

i tried the cheese pizza from this restaurant. it was nothing to fancy or anything to sing about. 6 square slices, reminded me of the school cafeteria pizza.

what a surprise. i grew up in a highly italian populated area of pittsburgh and have spent my life eating and cooking only authentic italian food. yesterday i graduated basic combat training and even though the dinning facility on base does do its job of filling, it does no means satisfy. i was starving for a taste of home but the food around me was obviously more southern rooted. honestly i walked into the restuarunt expecting it to be a "mock italian" and close enough to what i wanted. boy was i wrong, everything was excellent and you could tell the product was fresh and genuine italian. the service was so awesome and so polite. we arrived 30 minutes before they opened not realizing that they closed for lunch but the hostess seated us anyway and brought us bread and drinks until the kitchen opened. i wish i could put this restaurant in my pocket and take it home with me. only italian cooking i have ever tasted that come close to mine and my family's. we will make it a point to visit again if we are ever in the area again.

fun atmosphere. great food and a really fun dining experience. the wait staff could use a little polishing but the food was great and portions were very large. we had a great dinner and then walked main street. we will definitely be back

had meatball sub and salad for lunch. service was good. salad good. meatballs tasteless . if this is the best columbia has we are in trouble.

the oldest and the best!. what a wonderful and charming restaurant!

this is the oldest italian eatery in the columbia area that just gets better and better with age. cozy up with your favorite friend or family and share a plate of succulent seafood with artichokes and sun-dried tomatoes that are beautifully topped over a bed of steamy and creamy, delicious linguine. or just about anything else on their menu.

i truly love this place!

went on friday night and had a great time. started with the special ricotta fritters and pumpkin sauce. entrees were the special scallops and pasta and my wife had the cheese manicotti. we had the tiramisu. everything was great and the service was spot on. great place. cant wait to go back next time we are in columbia.

no service. went on friday night for a birthday - had reservation. place is small - walked through a working area to be seated in the back room, right in the middle of the floor. waiter serving behind us kept running his butt into my chair as he passed by, never saying a word. other wait help passed by. was served water 2x by the busboy. continued to wait and then after 15 min simply got up and left . told the girls at the front counter what happened and they just said "sorry". a second chance at redemption missed. joe called and offered a gift certificate but you only get 1 first impression. for a $25 entree place you expect more, a lot more.

if they can't manage the wait staff how well is the kitchen managed?

the food passing by looked and smelled good but we never got a chance.

i generally enjoy the food, but lately my friends have said not to go there because they thought the prices were too high. i think on pizza and normal things it is quite acceptable. certainly it is an old columbia tradition and most people enjoy at least one visit there.

i walked out totally and completely satisfied. the restaurant has a pretty cool history too - you can read all about it on their website. the food is authentic italian, probably due to the south philadelphia italian heritage. the restaurant is warm and inviting, and homey without being hokey. our service was exceptional, and our food was outstanding. if columbia didn't have so many other fabulous restaurants, i might be tempted to go to villa tronco for every special occasion i have from now until the end of time.

never made it in the door because they don't handle reservations well. i called and was told 5 and 9pm were available. i asked if i could call right back and the hostess said "sure" . i call my girlfriend for approval and call right back (within one minute ) only to be told they were only taking cancellations by another person. i guess i didn't sound like i met this guys criteria for seating. beware!!!!

im an inspiring chef, i would say the food was very good. appetizer baked motzerella was amazing. service was also steller. i had lagsagna, pasta and cheese ravioli. all was great. my girl had scallops and shrimp alfredo, she really enjoyed it. atmosphere was if,i had to describe it. ma and pop owned. but still fancy. only down fall was two people and a kid cost 90 bucks after tip. but definatly great choice for a date. respectful restaraunt. thanks

ladies culture club of columbia. we have been to villa tronco numerous times and the food is always delicious. the staff are very friendly and courteous. they also have an opera night once a month that is simply amazing. where else can you eat a wonderful dinner and listen to beautiful music? i would strongly recommend this restaurant and so do the members of ccc.

scratch!. almost everything at villa tronco is made from scratch - including meatballs, sausage and ravioli. great specials on a daily basis including fresh fish, shrimp and scallops. the homemade baked mozzarella is yummy for an appetizer or try the alla vodka sauce for a meal.

villa tronco edges out pasta fresca as my favorite italian food in cola. a bit pricier than pf but very good dinners and decent wine prices. if you have more than 4 in your party, call ahead.
