a classic. this ice cream parlor is a family favorite and staple. they make their own ice cream and are always welcoming and helpful. growing up we would have a ritual of going there for lunch on the weekend. the mint chip ice cream shake is something i try to have every time i visit sacramento.

uncluttered with simple fare, this restaurant has kept to its original concept, and it works.

what makes vic's ice cream such a popular choice for us? well, the answer is as plain as the nose on your face ... they keep it simple, whether it's in the making of their ice cream (29 flavors by my last count) or the careful construction of their sandwiches from the classic reuben to the kid favorite fried hot dog.

established in 1947, vic's is located in the historic land park neighborhood of sacramento. and it hasn't changed much since then with its black and white checkered floor tiles, blue jeans and t-shirts worn by its employees, and menu items that date back to the truman administration. when you walk through the doors, you're walking into history. so, the next time you're passing through town, be sure to include vic's ice cream on your agenda.

vic's is the best!. on hot summer evenings, if the delta breeze arrived before nightfall, we used to ride our bikes to vic's from our old house near the city cemetery for an ice cream cone. my favorite flavor was orange chocolate chip, not found often in the rest of the world. as people rediscover walking and biking, a place like vic's is a great destination on a summer evening.

great home made ice cream with seasonal specials that are amazing (pumpkin)! ladies still have their sandwiches cut in quarters. a neighborhood treasure!

vic's has been around since 1947 & is still that old fashion soda shop. generous but not outlandish portions, simple sandwiches & potato chips. not much seating but good on a hot evening.

classic. other than having good ice cream, they have food. i remember that i once ordered a hot dog and was served a hot dog which was two hot dogs quartered and put in a toasted sandwich. and it was good. and the potato chips served with it seemed extra crispy and delicious.
