food was just mediocre...we had ordered
1. panner spring roll...taste was ok..but, oil dripping frm verywhere

2. mushroom soya kheema - first they brought mushroom masala...when asked, they took it back and brought slightly improved version....there were no traces of soya

3. bread basket - the rotis were dought at center and not cooked well..

4. kimchi fried rice...tasted just like an ordinary fried rice...no taste of kimchi whatsoever...quantity was too small for the price..

service

the service was pathetic..

wasn't anyway close that is required for a fine dining restaurant..

.spoons and forks were not given even after reminding them twice....had to ask many times for water..

one of the plates served had oil stains

the order was also served incorrectly...first they brought us a roti basket...when we were just about to hog..the waiter said it was in the wrong table and took it back...then one more roti basket came followed by starter
.then fried rice and lastly the mushroom soya kheem

overall a badexperienceand surely not worth the money and hype

never try pad thai…..its worse than maggi …
in veg meals, the menu card reads 2 starters.
they do not serve the starters. they do not even have pickle.
think twice before you visit this place.
worst diningexperienceever!

the worstexperiencei have ever had in chennai. do not order chinese in this place. the quality and taste of food was horrible. then when i asked for the manager to raise a complaint they called someone who is not the manager well that is what it feels like. we returned a dish after just tasting one bit they even added that to the bill. no care for customers and very poor service.

had a very badexperiencetonight. firstly one of staff passed by staring very inappropriately at my wife. secondly, they took more than 6-7 minutes to come take order in an almost empty restaurant. thirdly, more than half the dishes from the menu were not available when we tried to order (can’t you people just mark the availability of dishes on the menu for god’s sake??). lastly, when we suggested that we’d like to leave, the manager didn’t have the slightest mannerism to be polite, and just turned around and walked off before we could even get up from our seats. wtf!!!

fusion restaurants are about mixing different cuisines and trying to bring an innovative dish .
vb signature is also one such place which tries to fuse the south indian variants with other cuisines . however theexperiencewas average .

1) ghee roast paneer - this is one dish that i recommended here , ask for the mint chutney dip . the spices was infused very well inside the paneer but ₹315 was slightly high

2) crispy peri peri idly - a very spicy and a great starter but was served after i had the dessert and after reminding them five times . claps for exceptional service.

3) gobi manchurian dosa - dosa filled with gobi manchurian . somehow the combination did not go together at all . the sambar was dead just like any other vasantha bhavans .

4) paneer dum biriyani - i guess the hotel thought - anyways you are going to call this pulao , so we’ll serve the pulao itself . again a tasteless brinji rice .

5) the chocolate job - the only saviour for the day 🧡 this fusion worked with base of dark chocolate marquise , salted caramel with mysorepa crumbles and oreo dust this was heavenly and recommend it 🔥
.
.
i visited after some decent reviews but the taste was very poor and i was unhappy with the service , no one was there to attend you properly incl serving you water . half of my time went in looking for a waiter and every order took half an hour

food:
roasted pumpkin & coconut soup – a sweet and smooth pumpkin drink with string hopper chunks; it was kicky and was thick to slurp in
thukpa – typical clear soup with noodles and veggies; was just warm and okay
ghee roast panner – surprised toexperiencethe flavours infused well within the panner (doesn’t happen everywhere), wicked soft, mild-spiced and was rich in clarified butter
sweet potato vada pao – a soft bun with mild-sweet potato in panko bread crumbs and jalapenos; it was crunchy and with the saturated chilli it was definitely arousing the taste buds
crispy idly – for a second, felt like eating a vada but no, this was a fried idly sautéed in salt & pepper, garnished and served hot. crunchy on the outside while soft on the inside with flavours bursting on every side
thai basil fried rice – a good bowl with classic flavours; felt a hint of umami there, was dry but still good
kongu kothu keema barotta – veggie gravy with chickpeas to garnish with; soft and had almost no spice yet was tummy-filling
tender coconut ice-cream – off late the famous dessert has taken control of every foodie; soft & melts in your mouth, sweet cream with mild coconut flavour
filter coffee soda – heard it for the first time so had a go at it; it is practically mixing decoction with the normal lemon soda. but, the end flavour wasn’t that simple; it had equal proportions of both with playing on each side of the tongue, sour yet fizzy
homemade jaggery ice-cream – perfect dish to sign off with; basic flavours which excited the taste buds, damn sweet and smooth literally melts within minutes

ambience/price:
the lighting and décor of this place are definitely up-lifting. since we were onto an early dinner, some of the items weren’t available, yet, the service at that time of the day was courteous enough. good seating and optimum parking space too were appreciable.
when it comes to price, this place is neither here nor there (took a hit on the q:p ratio); it is okay considering the level of innovation in their dishes; can definitely try at least once

excellentexperiencefor a family dinner!

given the mix of people in group i.e. grand parents, teenagers, and toddlers, we were looking for a restaurant which had both traditional south indian fare and north indian and novel items, and vb signature was a perfect fit.

the whole dinnerexperiencewas pleasing and smooth, starting with parking, ambience / seating, food variety and quality, and most of all exceptional service from server rajan. rajan patiently guided everyone in our group, young and old, with helpful information and suggestions, striking a fine balance to not be pushy. food quality was excellent across the board, with our favorites being the idiyappam, cauliflower cutlets, and the phulka rotis which were the best we've had in chennai.

a couple of areas that could've been better - bathrooms could've been a bit cleaner /drier and there were a couple mosquitoes hovering over us. neither was a big issue overall.

overall a fantastic place and a 5 starexperiencefor us. will come back again.

we went here after reading the reviews.. the place was amazing and so the food. we experimented with our taste and it was fab. the server named mr.rajan was the best server we could get. he was friendly, courteous and helpful. theexperiencewas really good.😊
just two things i want to mention-
1. they should give finger bowls at the end.
2. refreshments at the end.

the rating is 4.5!
what a place! one of the best indian veg places in town. the ambience is amazing and the food is so comforting & flavourful. always skipped this place because it was just a vasantha bhavan but this is different level! the dishes we ordered were,

palak patha chaat - very refreshing and a great light start to a heavy meal

mushroom stuffed ceylon parotta - yummy but not a wow dish! my friends liked it a lot more than i did

palak kofta curry - top 5 indian gravies i’ve had! it’s a unique combination of paneer & spinach kofta in a finger licking brown gravy! you’ll want to clean the bowl empty with hot soft butter naans!

now coming to the show stopper,
dessert: beetroot tiropita
don’t be turned off by the ‘beetroot’ of it ! it’s a crispy layered pastry with a warm beetroot filling and a mango yoghurt dressing, and vanilla ice cream on the side though the ice cream could’ve been smoother & better but this dessert is bomb and should not be missed!!

i was so overwhelmed by the taste that i even forgot to take pictures! will be visiting & revisiting!

can give a 5 rating just for the service! the person who served us was rajan and he was just amazing! was quick, recommended the right dishes and also explained each dish perfectly.. having him as our server tied the wholeexperiencetogether!

for those who haven't visited this place because you think it's like your regular vasanta bhavan, you couldn't be more wrong.

everything about the vb signature had an element of surprise in it - the warm interiors with quirky posters and a range of indian dishes infused with flavors from across the world.

we ordered the signature roasted pumpkin and coconut soup, schezwan fried momos, burnt garlic friend rice and milan to madras.

i'd give the food a rating of 3.5/5 - the momos were a little too oily and the fried rice was slightly bland. however, the soup was lovely and the dessert was, well, quite surprising. ;) recommended for coffee lovers. :)

the best part of the wholeexperiencewas the service. we were assisted by rajan who was very kind. he patiently explained the items on the menu and offered to replace the fried momos.

it's a must try at least once. i'm definitely going back there to try more of the dishes.
