a great place. manage your own expectations before you part the blue striped awning inside the door and enter the hole-in-the-wall that is valencia luncheria. this is not your typical overpriced, all show and no substance fairfield county "hot spot".

is it small, yes. is it cramped at times, absolutely but if you want to experience something different and delicious, this is the place.

the arepas are crispy, hot, wonderful and stuffed with creative fillings and combinations. the empenadas are terrific and filled with delightful fillings.

i am an old fish guy and i love the cerviche, a must have.

bring cash, there is an atm right up the street, walking distance in fact.

i was introduced to this by a friend who was actually in the ddd spot and have been back 5 or 6 times since. i keep going back.

remember that time you grew up as a young jewish girl whose whole understanding of latin american food started and ended with dulce de leche (thank you, guys and dolls )? oh, you don't? well, pretend you do. then it will be easier for you to understand my

great but not as good as it was. we still love this place--good for vegetarians but lately the food has not been as good and it's getting more expensive.
last sunday i ordered the chicken with citrus dish and it was tough as an old towel. i have had better, tenderer chicken from trader joes.

they offered me something else but at point, having waited 45 minutes for a table and another 20 to be served i was tired. cordially they took it off the bill.

byob & cash, mmm good food.. if you go for dinner it's byob and cash only. been going for lunch though, if you want something different then try the venezuelan arepas filled with many different flavors from pork roast to mango/avocado. the empanadas and burritos will not disappoint as well. just something a little different for the taste buds... you can check out the lunch menu in the pictures and dinner menu on their web page.

even better than everyone says!. my dry cleaner had been after me for months to try valencia so i had an odd hour after lunch...3ish on a friday night? this way i skipped the line and actually got seated and fed in no time at all...

even at 3pm, though, the place was totally full. a family, 3 pairs of office girls and one student on a laptop pretty much filled it...

i only had $12 in cash (all they take) and managed to get two killer arepas, one with brie and mango that was .... truly astonishing and a egg and chorizo that was even sicker~! add a pineapple beverage, a tip and whoaaaa! i just did the total foodie fast food trip on pocket change...
where else does that happen?

i live walking distance from valencia and go at least twice a week. it is a 10 in my opinion. huge menu, authentic food prepared with care by chefs that really know the food. for the prices they ask you are practically stealing food this good.

not too crazy about the place. it does have good food. but not as good as everyone raves.the seating area is very cramped. sometimes you have to wait.the batidos are pretty good. the domino (black beans and cheese)arepa is good.

verry good food! try the "gausacaca" sauce(no i can't pronounce it correctly). it will make an old gym shoe taste amazing. can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

to get more authentic venezuelan beach food (or any better venezuelan food) you would have to travel about 4000 miles south. the empanadas are the best i have found in the us.
