3 out of 5 stars. i had a pizza and tried the garlic knots. the pizza was prettygoodbut needed more sauce. the garlic knots were interesting. had to ask for pizza sauce to dip them in and it was cold. when i go to a restaurant i expect it to have real plates and glasses not styrofoam. i don't know if they don't like doing dishes or what. the customer service was poor.

i burned my lip on a slice!. if that doesn't tell you howgoodit was, well, i couldn't wait to bite into my slice. i was next door at the eye glass store at lunch time getting glasses adjusted, and i thought, "i'm starving" so i walked next door and ordered two slices to go, a cheese and an italian sausage. it took a few minutes so i walked around and looked at an old clipping on the wall from a review, read that, picked up a local free paper, and my order was ready. i opened it an sprinkled some hot pepper flakes on top, and walked back to the car. now, i had a 20 minute drive home and i knew i couldn't stand to wait to eat one of those slices, so i set up one of them with napkins so i could easiely eat it without making a mess. these slices are big, so you have to do the brooklyn fold, less messy too. i got on my way home and picked it up and briefly remembered how i used to burn my mouth when i was a kid eating a slice that was too hot when wham! burned my lip on a flaming piece of cheese! didn't i just remember doing that? oh, crap, i had to put it down and wait a minute or two before i could try again but it was soooo good! it took all the drive home to cool it down and nibble at it, but it was all i remember, along with the burned lip, and i ate the other slice later that night, slowly heating it up in my toaster oven. this is just like i remember growing up in nj, at the local pizzeria.the slices start at about $2.45 i think for a cheese, worth every penny, like i said, they are huge. it is located near my daughter's house and i am going to have to make a habit of this! one comment, i just edited this post after looking at the menu posted on this page and the prices are out of date, so don't go there thinking these are current! this needs to be updated

they toss em they're awesome!. great pizza! i love umberto's.
definitely order by the slice, definitely order supreme, and definitely dont expect to be able to eat 2 slices in one sitting.
lately, i've started getting the supreme with jalepenos instead of green peppers, and it is amazing. really reallygoodpizza, and at a very reasonable cost.

would you return?. to me the true test of pizza is the morming after test. the party is over, you wakeup in a fog, mouth is dry, your head is about to explored and you would give anything for something to settle your stomach. there in the box are the last pieces of leftover pizza. are they limp and soggy or brittle, dry and tasteless. not umberto's pizza, even cold it was asgoodas it was the night before. they get my vote for return visits.

good for lunch (with an asterik).goodcrust,goodsauce. i like veggie pizza, and the veggie selection was pretty limited (about the same as mazzio's offers). flavor was generally ok, but the cheese wasn't a good, low moisture cheese that the best pizzas have. that said, one piece is is about all you need for lunch, and the per slice price is agooddeal (would be a bargain with a better veggie selection).

fork me!. umberto's is one of those little hole-in-the-wall places you always went to when you were in college. of course, the top of the list item here is pizza. pizza's here are divided by physical size, and they have all the general toppings you could want on your pizza. i can't speak to all of them, sorry, but last time i was here i went with meat-lovers. meat lovers is pretty self explanatory for those of you that read english (and i'm assuming you do since you're a few sentences into this), but to be more specific, your pie comes covered in ham, ground beef, pepperoni, and some sausage i believe on top of the usual sauce + cheese + dough combination that makes a pizza. as the previous review noted, mozzarella is a pretty moist cheese and when this is combined with the fact that pizza is a big saucy item covered in a bunch of meats that arguably have a high fat content that melts out of the meat and into your crust, your pizza can get kinda messy/moist. i rarely eat pizza with a fork but when i'm here, fork me. now for me this isn't such a bad thing, the pizza tastes prettygoodhere and when you look at what you're paying, i'd rather come here than go to mazzios or pizza hut most of the time.

as far as service and atmosphere goes, this place looks like a hole-in-the-wall pizza place. it's not like "you don't know where i've been, lou!" or anything like that, it's just an old looking pizza place. you'll be fine, i promise. the guys behind the counter are pretty nice the few times i've talked to them...they've even let me bypass the .25 refill fee a time or two! plus, a random side note, you can pretty much see the entire kitchen when you're ordering, something that's reassuring to me, basically that they let the customer see "hey we're not dirty slobs, we keep the kitchen clean, don't worry about it!".

overall, umberto's gives yougoodvalue for your money when you're in the market for pizza. lots of choices of yummy items make up for what might be a little bit of a mess. pizza here is big and tasty and when that's coupled with affordable, it sounds like a prettygoodrecipe to me.

good food, bad atm. umberto's is a deliciously hidden secret of tulsa. the pizza slices are huge and always smothered in fresh toppings and cheese. the atmosphere is lacking but its cheap andgoodfood.
