tupinama is a dallas institution. eddie dominguez graduated from dallas tj. the food is excellent. the servers are the best. try the sunday brunch!

i have been going to tupinamba's for years. i was excited to try their new location. i was surprised to find the restaurant almost empty at lunch on a saturday. i ordered the number 6: cheese taco, enchilada and tupy taco. the food was as good as ever! i hope they are successful.

we has a party of 33. if you order margaritas get the top shelf. they were awesome and i consider myself a margerita afficianodo the food was pretty good, queso was awesome and guacamole was delicious. i had the street tacos and everyone commented how good the good the food was. is there better? yes but this was just as good as most and i highly recommend.

wonderful. this place is wonderful! i have been going there for the last fifty years. yes, 50! the food is always good. the service is great. the margaritas are awesome. if you don't care for the salsa in the "cute carafe" ask for the salsa especial. it is made like mama would make. sometimes it is too hot for me and other times i ask for some to take home. i know there are many tex-mex places to go and i am sure there will be something to not like about them; but for consistency, tupinamba is my place of choice.

without a doubt, the absolute best chili rellanos in town!!! also, the margaritas are awesome, but beware, you cannot drink two and find your way home!! (love the service, as well!)

yuck. i went there yesterday. the chips were overcooked and the salsa unremarkable. i ordered a cheese enchilada dinner and first, it was room temperature. second, the queso was so salty that i couldnt eat it. the cheese inside the enchilada was not melted. i do not recommend this place. there are much, much better places to get your tex-mex for less money.

tupinamba? nothing special here, keep browsing.. i tried tupinamba today with a group. the service was fine, but i found the menu lacking.

apparently the crowning achievement of this restaraunt's fare is the tupy taco. these are a small fried taco that consist of a minimal (seriously) amount of beef, refried beans and cheese/lettuce/tomatoes on the side. they are very similar to jack in the box tacos, except slightly less greasy and 8x the price. one tupy taco = $3.75.

i had the pollo diablo as my entree, and added a tupy taco on the side. the pollo diablo turned out to be quite a let down. sort of a smoky, very mildly spiced sauce that tasted more burned than anything over a chicken breast with rice, squash and zucchini. very disappointing.

the chips are thick and almost stale, but still crunchy. the salsa is bland but fairly tasty.
service was good with our party of 11.

if you're in dallas, there are about 200 mexican restaurants i would recommend over tupinamba.


highlight: the $4 fried taco. (i didn't know it was $4 when i ordered it, otherwise i wouldn't have bothered.)

i wrote an earlier review where o lamented the absence of sweet tea, but otherwise a wonderful place to eat. they have sweet tea now! makes a great place even better!

yummy. i eat lunch here frequently. the price for items from the lunch menu is difficult to beat, especially with the serving size. i love the chips/salsa. the fried tacos are amazingly good.
my favorite dish at lunch is the rudy's special - a sour cream beef enchilada, a chicken enchilada with salsa verde, and a fried taco. just wish they had sweet tea, but i will continue to eat lunch here.

i can't say enough good things about the sour cream and chicken enchiladas, tupy tacos, or laurens favorite. their chicken has an amazing smokey flavor!

pukinamba. if you think this is great mexican food you need to get out more! i've never tasted anything more bland and unappetizing. speaking of bland, the servers act like they don't want to be there either. so, if you want bad mexican food and service this is the place to go.

great mexican food. best sour cream enchiladas in town. i've been coming to this place since i was little, never disappoints.

overall best tex mex in dallas. lived in dallas for 26 years and have tried dozens of tex mex places. very few places can beat the service, food and drinks at tupinamba's. the very best margarita is the tupi gold when made by elias at the bar.

i think the ribeye was a little over priced for what it was, but everything else was delicious .
