tropical island

great food and great service!. i've been to tropical island many times, and every time the service and food have been great! very fast, always tasty, and friendly staff. the tropical beef is amazing, as is the deep fried coconut milk for desert. highly recommend!

what's the fuss about?. the best thing i've had their is salt and pepper tofu. but it's kind of tough to screw that up. anything else we've gotten has arrived cold, or was greasy, or was just... not very good. deep fried veggies as a normal side? why would i want my broccoli deep fried? i mean, i'm a classic north american. i'll eat whatever deep fried, but there's a line y'know? veggies are supposed to be the lighter part of the meal that helps absorb the grease from the meal, they're not supposed to add to it!

great food!. here's my dilemma with this place...do i order the same scrumptious dish i tasted last time or should i try another menu item? so now i order both a favorite dish and something i haven't tried before. the prices are reasonable enough to do this and the food is excellent. i've loved every item i've tried.

the reviewer who stated this is "a bad place" is an idiot in my opinion, as is the guy who didn't like his home delivery - the food here is great fusion, fresh, tasty, the service is friendly and accommodating - the chef may take extra time but i'd rather wait for good food than something rushed - if you want to be treated like you're at your mothers . go to her house for your meal!

oh and by the way, anna, they don't do 'popcorn chicken' which you said was too salty. are you confusing them with kfc?

i can't say enough about this place. we've been going here since they opened and the quality never changes... nor have their prices! we usually order one of the meals for two (the spring rolls are vegetarian, the shrimp straws are delightful, the green curry chicken is subtle with a refreshing hint of lime, nice steamed vegetables in a light sauce, steamed rice, with tropicsl beef - the best in the city - followed by deep fried coconut milk - to die for!) there's usually enough food left over for lunch the next day... but never enough of the tremendous dessert. -> as for the reviewer who whined about the curry not being hot enough.., all he had to do was ask, they offer chili oil or paste to those who want things hot

the food here is fresh and delicious. well prepared and very good service. prices are very reasonable.

the waitresses were good but the cook spent too long to make the food. no recoomanded.

food court quality chinese food at twice the price!!!. about two weeks ago, my friends and i had a hankering for food. without a car, we were in the market for delivery, and the generally positive reviews for tropical island convinced us that it was a safe bet. unfortunately, review aggregates can be fickle beasts. maybe the dine-in service is better, though i can't really say.

our order was quite simple - a menu sampler for 4 and a vegetarian sampler for 2. the employee who took our order appeared to have some trouble with english, which manifested in two ways: the order took a painfully long time to place, and was, in the end, wrong. we ended up about an hour later (longer than the advertised delivery wait) with a vegetarian sampler for 4 and a menu sampler for 2, and the meat eaters among us were quite put out. after half-heartedly accepting our incorrect order at the door because we were really hungry after waiting for so long, we proceeded to eat our food. even if the meat were identifiable (we thought it was chicken or pork, but i just looked it up and it was "tropical beef"), the meal would not have been enjoyable because the food ranged in temperature from lukewarm to cold (and my friend had no microwave). the dishes were oversalted and comparable to food court chinese food in terms of quality, but were extremely overpriced. no plum sauce was included with our meal, which was especially devastating.

this was genuinely the worst chinese food experience i have ever had. the only thing that would have completed it would have been me contracting a bad case of food poisoning as a result. it would have been more worthwhile to take a ferry to vancouver, eat chinese food at the tsawassen ferry terminal, and then take the ferry back to victoria (etc., etc.). never again, tropical island, never again!

delivery was fast. we got our 5 dishes in 30 minutes, fried rice dishes were very nice, seafood platter really good - we will definitely order from them again.

always delicious. the food here is wonderful. i have taken many people to eat here and they have all loved it. the variety of dishes is excellent. the young coconut stew is delicious. the seafood teppan is also great. the deep fried custard for dessert is ridiculously good.

very good. i've been to this restaurant many times and will continue to return. i have never had a bad experience at this restaurant, the service is good, the food is excellent and the ambiance is quaint.
i highly recommend this asian fusion restaurant.

decent food, could be better. i've been here twice now. the food is quite good, but a little more effort could make it more awesome, particularly for their vegetarian dishes.

i love their sizzling dishes, they are fabulous. they are also licensed, which is nice.

i wish they pressed their tofu. the meat is delicious, but the vegetarian stuff falls short because of this.

also, it could be spicier, but i think i have to ask for hot next time. i had the spicy basil tofu and it wasn't spicy at all.

diners out at 9 on the dot!. we got there at 8:30 pm were seated and promptly ordered our food. food arrived in 10 minutes, at 8:45 pm the waitress came and said last call as the kitchen closes at 9. we thanked her for letting us know. 8:54 pm the waiter came and said, excuse me, we close at 9 pm so 10 more minutes!. now we're not the type to linger but would at least have liked to eat our food in peace. will never return.

don't get the hype!. my family and i finally made it out to the tropical island for dinner after hearing about it here and there. the service was awful. they said it was because the server was busy. there was three other tables of patrons and us.i'd hate to see what the service was like when it was full. the food was so-so too. i can think of many other restaurants i would rather visit than this one. we won't be going back!

went with a group of six people and we ordered the dinner for six. it included spring rolls, green curry , a beef fish, stir fry veggies etc and we all enjoyed the food immensely. it was full of flavour, hot and served very quickly. most enjoyable visit and we will definitely return to our special tropical island.

delivery was on time food was cold and very bland though i was not impressed
