tortugas grille

friday night (5-11-12). my wife and along with some friends dined here this friday night. this was my first visit and we are sure it will not be the last. the resturant is well maintained and the food is super. the menu is diverse, as such there is something for everyone all at reasonable prices. from meat loaf, to blacken tuna, to shrimp n grits, everyone thought they had made the best selection. the owners are the cooks and servers, a combination that assures you that the level of service will have you returning.

great food in large portions! everyone working there is very friendly, and i could not have been more satisfied with my visit. i will definitely put this restaurant on my list of favorites!

savannah trip june, 2014. great food....large portions....great flavors....totally enjoyed this meal. we went early for dinner so there wasn't a large crowd, but it didn't take long to notice that it soon became the popular place to eat. highly recommend this as a place to go!

most every work day, i head home over the thunderbolt bridge on highway 80, heading out to the islands.  the view from the bridge of the river, the surrounding marshes, and the hammocks is spectacular and ranks as one of the best drives in savannah--if you don't get pulled over. if you haven't been pulled over, yelled at, and ticketed by the thunderbolt police then you just aren't getting out enough.  for most people living out on the islands, getting stopped and harassed by the thunderbolt police is a rite of passage.  they will pop you for speeding, for going too slow, for following to close on the bridge, for passing on the bridge,  for not moving over when they are pulling someone else over, for not pulling over for them when they are just moving through looking for someone to pull over.  none of them have ever heard of dale carnegie.  if they have, they arrested him too and beat him with his book.  i was pulled over once, when my kid was about 7, for speeding (i think about 6 mph

amazing dinner. shrimp and grits is a must. the shrimp fritters appetizer is a must as well. service was excellent. highly recommend tortugas.

have eaten many fabulous meals, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. the staff is warm and remembers you if you are a repeat customer. craig, the owner blends the most amazing combinations, even if it something as simple as shrimp & grits, or a pork loin. one of my top five favorite places!!

bad food at tortugas. this $18.00 meal was terrible. the caesar salad was iceberg cut by knife in ribbons and the croutons were seasoned heavily with oregano...not even close to a caesar salad. i had grilled chicken pasta....bad pressed chicken breast loaf and un-rinsed pasta that was sticky, pasty, with no kind of attempt at a flavorful sauce or garlic oil flavor...terrible and for the price even worse. we will never go back and hope no one else wastes their money on a meal at this bad eatery. there is so much good food insavannah this is a shame.

a plus. always ask about the special; the food is all cooked by the owner who flat out cooks;

if u r not happy tell them you were not happy and they should gladly take care of you and make sure you are; that is customer service and they have it there;

all there food is great; order what u like and it will be excellent; the chicken sandwiches are ridiculous and so is the seafood;

the food was yummy and unique. we enjoyed our meal very much! the restaurant is in a nice location and has a comfortable atmosphere. the only downside is that it's a teensy bit pricey.

love this place!. all i have to say is this restaurant is a hidden gem. my family and i have now ate their for brunch, lunch and dinner and my office has even had lunch meetings and carry outs. they are a very family oriented restaurant and not only do they have wonderful food but the best service in town. they are also pet friendly! you have to try this place out!

give this a miss - overpriced cafe.. i stared out being dissapointed and ended up annoyed. top quality restaurant prices in a very basic place. what was worse was the food. good ideas but poorly done. so many good restaurants in savannah if you want to spend over $30 per person. the number of "perfect" reviews on urban spoon and other sites just don't match with what you find here.

fantastic salads!

worst brunch. we just came back from lunch/brunch, and it was so bad i had to write a review, since i just wasted $50 in a blink of an eye. despite having excellent service, it was not even close to compensate for the poor taste experience. kids ordered big breakfast, but son's pancake undercooked, his sausage was the worst sausage i have ever had in my 45 year life. my son took a bite and asked if he had to finish it, and i thought he was joking. but after tasting it, i felt his anguish. to be so hungry and to have such bad food, the worst feeling.

at least they cooked my daughter's pancake, but forgot to do a good job on eggs. i mean, how could you screw up breakfast.

the shrimp panini was terrible, hardly any shrimp...mostly cheese, bread and tomato sauce. the shrimp salad was decent just for the fact that you could actually see the shrimp, and plenty of it for this sandwich, but overall flavor disappointing.

my wife has had dinner in the past with good results, but this was our first (and last) brunch experience at tortugas. avoid this place for lunch/brunch since there are plenty of other alternatives.
