most every work day, i head home over the thunderbolt bridge on highway 80, heading out to the islands. the view from the bridge of the river, the surrounding marshes, and the hammocks is spectacular and ranks as one of the best drives in savannah--if you don't get pulled over. if you haven't been pulled over, yelled at, and ticketed by the thunderbolt police then you just aren't getting out enough. for most people living out on the islands, getting stopped and harassed by the thunderbolt police is a rite of passage. they will pop you for speeding, for going too slow, for following to close on the bridge, for passing on the bridge, for not moving over when they are pulling someone else over, for not pulling over for them when they are just moving through looking for someone to pull over. none of them have ever heard of dale carnegie. if they have, they arrested him too and beat him with his book. i was pulled over once, when my kid was about 7, for speeding (i think about 6 mph
