to dine for eatery

so clean, so quiet, so tasty, so affordable. after another busy work day, hubby & i longed for comfort food and quiet surroundings. thanks to high recommendations from friends, we tried to dine for eatery. it's easy to find on terminal avenue, with easy street parking, and even easier because parking was free. (there's a huge parkade two buildings away so parking would never be a problem.)

i was really impressed with the minimalist decor of two solid coloured vibrant walls, and steel tables and leather chairs. simple bright matching colours - well thought out - not haphazardly put together. sitting by the spotless floor to ceiling windows, watching all the students flocking to the international languages night school was our entertainment while awaiting dinner.

hubby had the chicken poutine ($9), and i had the vegan chilli ($6). both hearty helpings, very hot and tasty. hard to beat those prices for such decent food. the owners surprised us with two complimentary 'deep fried peanut butter andbaconballs' - nice touch.

the varied menu, polite warm service, quiet ambiance and comfortable chairs will have us returning again soon.

fantastic spot. holy crap this restaurant makes amazing burgers! i've only tried two - 'bob's burger' (a bacon, cheese, mushroom option) and their peanut butter andbaconburger - both were superb. definitely one of my favourite burger places in the city, i make a point of going here once per week. the service is also very friendly, so that's a plus. would highly recommend this place.

so i finally got around to trying to dine for eatery after hearing about their peanut butter andbaconburger forever. since my korean friend was curious about their "hot spicy" korean kimchi burger, i got a bite of that as well. the location looks like a dead-end industrial black hole, but the building it is located in has a good population including an esl school, so if you try to walk in at noon you'll likely face a packed room. on wednesday we did a 1 pm walk-in after the lunch hour and it was barely a third full. the kitchen was still pretty busy -- too busy for the chef to cut our burgers in half, apparently, so we did it ourselves -- but service was still pretty fast. burgers come with your choice of fries, salad, or (+$1) soup-of-the-day. my friend attempted to get half fries, half salad and was told that would be a $2 surcharge! apparently their busy kitchen is pretty ruthless about protecting its time and takes no prisoners. kimchi burger ($13.95) nice bun. not wonderbread. tall burger thanks to the fluffy lettuce on top. lettuce, red onion, and a bit of sweet pickle makes the top half of the burger. what appeared to be a house-made patty sits on the bottom. patty was moist and tender without being crumbly. just this would have made a really decent burger. kimchi portion was so-so. not hot or spicy. not so fermented as to be stinky, so don't worry. basically this is just preserved veggie. flavour overshadowed by the pickle. tip: immediately open up your burger and remove the pickles. otherwise this burger won't be worth the +$2 cost over their basic burger. peanut butter andbaconburger ($12.95) basically the same burger as the kimchi burger, except instead of kimchi, you get peanut butter andbaconbits. as with the kimchi burger, immediately remove the pickles! otherwise they'll dominate over the flavour of the peanut butter and bacon. peanut butter seemed watery, but it might be because of contact with hotbaconand burger patty. flavours do go togethe

burgerlicious. amazing burgers!!! i tried 4 or 5 different burgers all great here, however simple is sometimes best! cheeseburger andbaconcheeseburger to die for!!! i think best burger in town! fries are awesome too. service too sweet for words! don't go i don't want to wait in line!!!

i love it!!!!. i just created an account just to write this review..seriously this restaurant is more than i expected...... i have fallen in love with this restaurant. especially the 'peanut butter andbaconburger' is mind-blowing. you should seriously try their burgers. everything's freshly made with juicy patty and they serve big portion. the customer service is awesome too. don't compare with any other fast food burger restaurants because this is worth money for sure.

pb andbaconburger. peanut butter goes sooooo well with the burger. you won't believe it.

to dine for is a pleasant surprise in a nondescript office building on terminal ave. east of main st. the exterior signs are large and busy (they have to catch your attention somehow while you wiz by in a car), but inside the place has a cool, stylish look with orange and purple walls and some mock-flock wallpaper. hollywood crooners croon over the speakers while breakfast goers choose from a simple menu of eggs benedict (various types), two breakfast sandwiches and a standard eggs,baconand toast plate. i enjoyed the hollandaise-free tomato and two-cheese eggs benedict ($12.95), served with your choice of fries or salad. it was well-done standard fare – english muffins, poached eggs, tomato and cheese, all fresh and flavourful. a nice touch was just a hint of garlic on the toasted muffins, and the fries were hand peeled before they hit the deep fryer.

great night!. i am sure this diner sees enough business during the day, but at night there was just us a group of 10 or so, we had made our way over for a reserved burger feast. some of us got the holy smoke, others the kimchi. i decided to go with the peanut butter andbaconburger. i one of my companions suggested hot sauce to go with that and i thought it was a good idea. the burgers arrived in a timely fashion followed by lots and lots of napkins!! it was a saucy, crunchy mess...but a delicious one!! their housecut fries were nice and crunchy, just how i like them. i imagine if i am down this way again i would make an effort to stop here.

i also forgot to add that the staff are always friendly and really great at what they do.

i should of done this a long time ago, i've eaten here quite a few times, and every-time i am left amazed at the effort that the owner puts into each dish. the ingredients and presentation are always of the highest quality. the last time i was there i had the blackstone benedict, i would highly recommend it to anyone. and i look forward to trying his new peanut butter andbaconburger. :)

highly recommend it!. just ate there today and brought a friend. both of us werenot disappointed at all. sure, price isn't cheap but neither is the quality. you get your money's worth. she had the bibimbap (mixed rice bowl) and i had the peanut butterbaconcheese burger (delish!). would recommend it to anyone. heads up, lunch time is busy so may want to get there early or order to take-out (we did).

unique burgers made from fresh meat. there were a number of different burger choices to choose from. we decided beforehand what we were going to order so it made it easier. they tweak their menu a bit every week, i think, and they also have different specials everyday. we went today and it was a dollar off all the burgers. an order of burger also includes either fries or salad.

pb andbacon- it works! sounds weird but it actually tasted good with the sweet taste that the pb brings to it. the consistency of the peanut butter was perfect - if it was too thick it would be too filling. thebaconwere chopped up pieces. i would preferred it less crunchy.
the poutine - we loved the mushroom gravy. there was a generous amount of cheddar in it. nice combination with gravy smothered fries inside the burger. you can taste the patties were not those frozen ones bought from stores. we even saw a guy deliver bags of fresh beef while we were there. although, we did find that the patties fell apart too easily.

this is a family-run restaurant. service is good. lots of tables. would def. return and try the other burgers. the t.e.d. burger is next on my list to try.
