the yardz

horrible food.. terrible. eaten there twice and they just can't get their meals right. the first time i had the caesar salad that was drowned in mayonnaise.
the next time i had a meal that had walnuts in it and their were rancid. you would hope they would check, but obviously not.

went to dinner there last night we were all crammed in couldn’t hardly move, most of the meals weren’t that nice. i had the steak sandwich and it was mostly bacon, bread was stale and steak was literally missing., everything just tasted burnt. plus $20 for a jug of coke is just crazy. won’t be back!!

service was polite, food was delicious and pricing was on point!

a really tasty and filling parmi! loved it! we sat in the bistro area to get that true pub feel. service was fast and it was quite busy due to football being televised. chicken was a good thickness and moist. very nice ham and plenty of sauce. chips were thick cut and cooked to perfection. value for money was great. mid priced parmi left me full and content. will be back soon

the service was excellent. the food was amazing and the serves were big. the salads were freshly made. the tables were a bit squashy though.

average food. not bad, not awesome. went with friends, waited one hour for food when the place did not look that busy. pork belly is a tiny serve and costs 30$, not impressed, little pricey for what it is honestly. friendly service i really enjoied having a laugh with the weitress.

we ate in the bar and it was awesome pub grub and great service highly recommend for good food and a down to earth atmosphere. kids ordered the parmie of the month which was mexican and it was awesome, very generous serves.

very disappointing, we used to go here regularly for their salt and pepper squid, but it's like once they finished their refurbishments they just said ok we've spent enough let's save on the chef and get a new low budget one in! it all went south after that, we took our daughters there for tea, they love their full sized parmies,they got small parmies and overcooked, i had fatty, chewy steak which was supposed to be cooked medium, the meals were overpriced and the staff were really rude, needless to say we didn't finish our meals we stopped by maccas on the way home

i don't usually eat at an old school workers boozer like the yardz (with a z).  
i wouldn't usually order a chicken parmigiana, like i've only ever eaten one or two in my life. but when in rome..... throw some poorly prepared under cooked napoli on your factory crumbed chicken with a slice of watery overly processed ham and smother it in partially melted characterless cheese.... and you have a parmi. 
have i missed anything? oh yes, the soggy under seasoned chips and mixed lettuce with machine julienne root vegetables.  
i'm sure there are better examples of the parmi around but the yardz (with a z) are not even attempting to engage the taste buds.

not good. tried this place again for dinner, wanting to support. they have a "specials" night, where i am told about the steak and pot of beer for $17 or so. can't go wrong with that, right?
wrong.
the porterhouse was so untrimmed it was a quarter of gristled uncooked fat.
the mash tasted like it was that half powdered "deb" brand, which took up half the plate.
even with arriving early in the night, the veg was three quarters boiled carrots. did they run out of the other vegies?
the very low grade porterhouse was laid atop of the deb (why?) with a small topping of mushroom sauce. very, very ordinary.
although it was "specials night" the place was only half full, if that - yet it took about three quarters of an hour to receive my meal.
i'll save my money next time.
a "specials night" shouldn't mean "something i would not serve my dog".

nasty, nasty. horrible young staff. we'd spent some money at this pub, then last drinks were called. fair enough. none of us were drunk. we'd all had a meal and paid quite a bit over the evening.
they already closed the "smoking area" out the back so we had to stand out on the street. we asked if it was ok to have a cigarette and then return to finish our drinks. they said sharply "you have ten minutes".
then when we got back after five minutes they had tipped out all our drinks. i asked for a refund. the rude young female bar person poured me half a beer while saying that's all you had left. i didn't bother. i'm not going to be insulted by some surly young thing half my age. we just walked out, not to return.
very, very bad service. i asked who the owner was before i left and she said she did not know. that's ok sweetie pie, i can work that out on my own.
we left after being admonished by a 20 year old with attitude who clearly does not understand anything about customer service.

we are all locals, who have been going to this pub for some years.
not any more, with the service, that used to be great. whoever these "new" staff are, they need to pick up their game.
geelong west is not new york. word gets around.

how could they call that food!!!. we went on a monday night. i had lovely memories of delicious food here hoping it would not disappoint! well.... the food which finally appeared (i foolishly describe it as food) was soooo plastic fantastic. how can calamari be so bastardised? seriously? my taste buds were totally insulted by the deep fried breadcrumb squiggles (no calamari really). the salad it was served on was no better with awful cheep black olive rings. how disappointing. not a patch on the old yardz.

great pub with an excellent bar menu. great, friendly staff and reasonably priced meals.

friendly staff, excellent food - even gluten free. thanks for a lovely night, enjoyed the beef and reef, and catered for gluten free family members with no fuss.

great pub style food with a hint of class. ordered the pork belly and the gf chicken parma and the meals were great for the money. they serve a good selection of wines and beers to accompany the well structured menu. we were in the mood for a solid pub meal and it definitely hit the spot.

never again. most definately never had such bad service,the owner has no people skills. why would anyone expect me to pay for a meal i never got,a night out with my family from interstate was far from pleasant .it's not much to ask that we all eat at the same time when we all ordered together......
