the wok asian restaurant

do you like salt?. i decided to try this restaurant out one sunday due to the fact that my favorite vietnamese restaurant was closed. i ordered three vermicelli noodle dishes for my family, as well as an extra order of vietnamese rolls and cold/salad rolls.

the meals themselves were alright, nothing really special but nothing really wrong with them either. the vietnamese rolls were different than most other places i have tried, but once again they were just ok and nothing special. the cold/salad rolls were not good at all.

the rice paper that the cold/salad rolls were wrapped in were tough. it was like they had either not been hydrated enough before they were used or they were dehydrated after having been wrapped.

the peanut sauce that was given to dip the cold/salad rolls in was really nothing more than soya sauce with some crushed peanuts mixed in. this was by far the worst peanut sauce i have ever had. similarly the fish sauce that waa given to use for the vermicelli and the vietnamese rolls was very high in salt content. in addition to that the flavor was unlike any fish sauce i have ever had before.

i am at this point recommending that if you like vietnamese dishes, like the ones i have described, you do not attempt them at this restaurant. i can not speak to other dishes they have, some of the cuisine may be very good. if on the other hand you are in favor of overloading on your salt content in one meal, look no further.

re found this place after a few years and am i ever glad i did. i have only had the spicy tai soup and paid 2.00 more to add veggies.

so good in fact this is the second time i have eaten here this week.

very strong flavour based soup. fast service

very clean place. worth a try if you want some spicy noodle soup.

i meant to take a picture but i was so excited to eat it that i forgot to......

the first vietnamese restaurant i ever went to in saskatoon after i moved here 7 years ago. awesome soup that keeps me coming back. my second favourite vietnamese restaurant in saskatoon, only been let down here a few times due to greasy spring rolls. come here for a damn good bowl of pho if that's what your craving

the food here is alright, but the service is horrible. they give you a little bit of water and bean sprouts for an appetizer and you don't see your actual meal for at least a hour. they should hire more staff to work. they should also have a limit for how long you can stay to lower wait times and increase throughput of customers.
i would not reccomend anyone to come here if they are not ready to wait and commit a large part of your day to sitting in a restaurant.

absolutely one of the most disappointing places to order from in saskatoon for asian food. ---------- if you want quality and flavour this is one place to avoid..... if flavorless and bland are words you like to describe your food, you may just like this place. the spring rolls are flavorless, the traditional sauce that comes with the spring rolls is just watered down fish sauce... no tang, no spice, no flavour. the hot and sour soup lacked everything in its name... no sour.. no hot.... the soup just had texture with no flavour. the sweet and sour lean pork is just deep fried pieces of dry pork with almost no sauce on them. it was as if they just spooned a few dribbles of sauce over the meat. one would expect the meat to actually be tossed in sauce.... not rationed out with a small spoon hardly hitting all the pieces. the steamed pork roll (summer roll) was dry and had a sliver of a pork slice with about 95% of the roll being rice noodles (flavourless seems to be a theme here). one thing that did not lack flavour but was sadly overpowered by one flavour was the war wonton soup.... pretty much a chinese 5 spice overkill. the lemon chicken was good at least. overall very disappointing... very flavourless and lacking in quality. those who claim "best asian food saskatoon". must eat plain rice and water for every meal.

got some curry tofu delivered to work. the food was late. which was very inconvenient as we only get 30 minutes. i ordered 45 minutes before we had lunch the food arrived 10 minutes before i had to get back to work.
the food was ok. hesitant to order again due to lengthy wait time.

the best part of this visit was the service. our server was cheery, hilarious, and helpful. the interior has a matching cheery vibe. the three bean drink was excellent. pan-fried dumplings were perfectly crisp. thai curry seafood soup was good, but quite salty. mushroom and beef fried rice was the least impressive, a bit bland, but still enjoyable.

i really enjoy coming here with my girlfriends for dinner and having the satay  beef noodle soup, and their viet coffee, sometimes the service isn't as well as i thought it would be but the food is good. not a fan of their seafood though, usually taste very rubbery and not pleasant to chew, so i refrain from ordering anything with seafood in it. i do love their candy selection though :)

this place will never see me again. the absolute worst soup i have ever experienced. when i told the server, this broth is to salty, she offered to water it down. it was straight soy sauce as broth. mushy disgusting spaghetti noodles. 2 small shavings of beef, 3 slivers of pork. no veggies with mushy noodles and so salty unable to eat. do not wast your money or time showing up here! better off making ichiban at home loaded with soy sauce then to eat here. i posted a picture to show you what you actually receive!!! after the server brought back my soup from the water down process. it was still soy sauce with mushy noodles. i told her and the owner that i could not eat the soup, they shrugged and gave me a bill. i paid the bill. but thought i have to tell you enter at your own risk! bathrooms were dirty water glasses well i should have taken a picture of how dirty they were. the server said, well we use cold water to wash the glasses and that is why they are dirty. seriously man...ohhh my i cant believe people actually eat here more than once!!!

both the food and customer service are very disappointing. i had a satay beef noodle soup with medium spicy(which is not spicy at all) take out and i recognized that they gave me a wrong order ( because i order this all the time!) so i called, but the old lady there insisted "if the soup base is brown, that is the satay beef noodle soup! and you only ordered medium spicy" "but this is black! " i said " and i have had this before .........(i kept on explaining)" ....then she hang up on me...i ordered medium spicy!not no spicy! i am really disappointed and i swear i am never going back again!!!!!

awful service do not use delivery. so i ordered food from this place a month or so ago. when asked i was told it would be 45 minutes 1 hour later i called and was told ten minutes longer... ok i understand there was issues. 2 hours later still no food and two hungry children finally i call back and cancel. they told me it was because of an issue with a delivery driver.

tonight i tried to order again..... another massive mistake 2 hours later no food after several phone calls to the store and being told ten minutes longer its not over 2 hours and still no food. i call again and it must be just my luck as when canceling they say they have issues with their "scammer" delivery driver. they didn't care about my complaints and didn't think it would of been good to call me and just tell me about the delay......

terrible value. almond gai ding is a wonderful dish, if done properly. on the other hand, if the person making the dish is trying to save money on ingredients & give the poorest value possible, the result won't be very good. i got hardly any chicken, and instead of the chicken the dish should have had, i got large chunks of onion (i like onion but not such large pieces), and extra amounts of other inexpensive water vegetables like celery. sometimes a dish is just not good, and sometimes it' seems to have been deliberately prepared so as to steal your money. maybe if you order this dish when eating at the restaurant they won't try to rip you off so brazenly like this. i suspect the same thing is liable to happen with any vegetable dish with protein: very little protein, and lots of the least expensive ingredients. if they stole my money at gunpoint, that would have been more honest.

yikes. the last two times i've eaten here i have ballooned up from the extreme salt content in the wonton soup and fish sauce. it's gone downhill, unfortunately.
