it was last thursday after my mid-week massage, i dropped in this renowned patisserie for a nice brekkie.
it was different timing from my usual arrival time at 07:00am and let me know that i should not come around 08:30am because there was a long queue waiting for placing order.
it seemed like an retrospective experience to me because i had exactly the same food and beverage as my last visit. the exception was that i had the brekkie at the al fresco area this time.
needless to say, i could not draw any picky comment because no even the almond croissant but also the flat white with five sense brew were all above standard.
we are so lucky to have this store in south side of brisbane👍

had visited this place on a tuesday previously & it was closed -as they are on mon & tues!! so off we rocked on a thursday (unfortunately too late to try out the almond croissants) it was about 12pm when we arrived & most of the treats had walked out the door earlier to a hungry clientele  it seems!! (no wonder when one glances at the wall & notes the awards thses guys have received.) the coffee made up for it though was smooth & delicious with a good hit.

i really am not a sweet tooth (in denial ? i don't know) but i've never been one to finish anything that was sweet or pastry.... until a friend told me about this place.

i honestly went there the next day at 11:00am all the pastries was sold out!!! the pastries are made on the day. we were only able to get the mini tarts. this pastry chef is really someone with an amazing palate and also has a high attention to detail. i almost can't put it into words, the flavours are well balanced like ... perfect! all the flavours complimented each other so perfectly, the base held its structure yet crumble delicately in your mouth and there's nothing i can fault about it.

okay it doesn't end there, i asked the ladies what time does the pastries sell out and she said normally before 12pm. i made sure i went there before 10.30am so i wouldn't miss out on 'drum roll' "caramel pear tart" o m g. this pastry chef has truly perfected the flavours and also balance each flavour that has been used. that caramel pear tart is one of a kind, you should really eat this alone with some coffee or save it for dessert 😅

all the croissants that he has made has always had the perfect flakiness / butteryness / light crumbles.

thank you 'the whisk fine patisserie'

you guys are my favourite hidden pleasures !

this little hole in the wall patisserie behind the village looks unassuming but sells the best croissants and danishes in brisbane! here’s a tip - call ahead and reserve your order so you don’t show up and get disappointed because they sell out fast! i love the almond croissant and tried their pear and caramel danish the other day - so good! they also make lovely little cakes that are as delicious as they are beautiful.

after several recommendations and positive reviews from our zomato community, we finally made our way to whisk. the simple but elegantly decorated café specializes in fine pastries and sweets. we were there weekday afternoon and found majority of cakes and croissants were sold out. with the limited selections we chose: almond croissant, passionfruit almond tart, mango coconut cake to share and caffeinated drinks.

the cappuccino and latte was well presented with beautifully poured latte art. cleanskin coffee beans were utilized with a smooth mouthfeel combining hazelnut and chocolate after taste. being a coffee junkie myself, i find the blend to be on the mild to weak side. 3.5/5

the almond croissant presents a generous serving size with roasted almond flakes lightly dusted with sugar. the croissant was crispy on the outside and nice and airy on the inside. the sweet almond filling was well balanced and at no point overpowered the buttery croissant taste. to me, this is the best almond croissant south of the river. 4/5

the passionfruit almond tart was elegantly presented with a pavlova droplet on top. first taste & i was blown away by the perfect sweet and sour balance with big passionfruit and lemon. the tart base was crispy, buttery with light almond flavours. combined together, your get a fruity yet complex citrusy taste with an elegantly buttery linger. i never thought i would say this but this is the perfect tart from my humble opinion. 5/5

the mango coconut cake was again beautifully presented siting on a thin almond chocolate biscuit base with a touch of roasted coconut & caramelized orange zest on top. the cake has a centre filling containing diced pineapple in mango gel. the smooth coconut taste was enhance by the fragrant filling and complemented by the crispy almond chocolate base. the complex depth of flavour and perfectly balance mouth feel made my taste buds excited. bravo! 4.5/5

the pastry chef (justin yu) has won several prestigious awards and represented australia in international pastry competitions. the offerings here clearly reflect justin’s talent in creating international quality treats.

hint: things sell out real quick here so make sure to come before lunch. their decent variety of macaroons is a solid 4/5.

go there around 10ish, i wouldn't say it was super busy, but the indoor tables were all already taken. most of the pastries are gone, so i'd just take a plain croissant, would love to try the peanut butter one though. ordered a large cappuccino as well, it would be lovely if the coffee and the croissant were served at the same time,but the coffee came rather late after i got the croissant. the croissant was quite huge considering i only had croissant from starbucks before...it was really flaky. :) coffee was actually the highlight of my experience.

lovely bakery, always busy. the pastry is just simply awesome. croissants are good but my favourite is the cinnamon apple puff pastry. that's absolutely amazing. they service good coffee as well. be sure to get in there earlier or things will sell out.

not often i'd get out of bed for pastries, but given the goodness to be found at the whisk from international award winning chef justin, i might just have to do it again and wake up earlier next time!

on this (my first) visit we enjoyed:
* chocolate & almond croissant, $5.80
* peanut butter croissant, $5.70
* cinnamon apple pastry, $5.80

the place is pretty small and tables/seats are at a premium. we manage to nab one of the last remaining tables for 2, and squeeze the boy on my lap. a small sacrifice/inconvenience for good food 😉
.
whilst surveying the choices in the cabinet, i spot a sign for their new kransky sausage & caramelized onion with smoked bbq sauce croissant, and my heart was sold. unfortunately it was actually out of stock... so here's hoping for better luck next time!

came here on saturday morning, the place was not crowded. i and my boyfriend managed to get a table inside. the place was rather small and does not have many tables. the outside decorated to be like rustic, but the inside and the way they display the croissant are modern.

ordered a small latte, a large latte, an almond croissant, and a chocolate croissant. all orders were perfectly made but delivered rather slowly. both croissants tasted really great, but i personally liked the almond croissant more. i tried eating it nicely with fork and knife, but it turned out messy as the croissants were flaky.

i might come back here in the future to try out the other pastries :).

suburban gem
tucked away in the back streets of upper mount gravatt and in an area famous for asian food, this gorgeous little patisserie was a surprising find. the pastries are presented beautifully, and are buttery and flaky - and well deserve the awards they have won. we thought the coffee was unremarkable though - but that's because we like strong coffee.
