the troll pub under the bridge

do not waste your time. i work downtown louisville i called in an order for lunch, it took literally 34 mins from the time that i ordered to get my order, which was mac n cheese and troll tots. i ended up being late back from lunch and even spoke with the manager johnny while i was their, who was very unprofessional. he stated that the problem was the server should not have quoted me 10 mins (like he did over the phone). the place was on a 20 minute wait and their were several tables open. the server who took my to go order didnt even come back to take the money. its good mac and cheese, but doc crow's is just as good and same price. their are alot of restraunts in the downtown area, dont waste your time on this place. this is not our first expierence with this place, i asked the last time we ordered if i could make a substitution on my order, she stated "it depends on if the chef feels like it," thats why i only order sides their. however not anymore save time and go to one of the great establishments around the corner like doc's or oshea's alot more friendlier than this place.

my wife and i stopped by this afternoon and were promptly seated by adrian. the atmosphere is perfect especially for the theme, and the pub is indeed tucked away near the base of the 2nd street bridge.
my wife had the shepherds pie, it was delicious and very authentic. i had the greek salad which was a very large serving with dressing on the side. both plates were beyond reproach, what a treat on a hot summer afternoon. adrian was friendly and attentive. we will definitley go back, especially when we catch a ball game at louisville slugger field, since the troll is up til 2 am!

3.5 out of 5. the food was pretty good. we split the fish and chips and the breakfast burger. both tasted great. we got the duck spring rolls which were amazing, but you only get 3 of them for $9.00. the service was a little slow, but not too bad.

my favorite place. i've been there three times and have yet to have bad service or bad food. the decor and ambiance is different than anything that either my wife or i have ever seen. the beer cheese and the ravoili appetizers are awesome. the prices aren't too bad, they reflect the quality of the food. if you're drinking beer, be sure to try the troll!

great place! brought a group of 10. most from our of town. really enjoyed it. great decor, lots of tv's, love the patio/alley. i had the beer cheeseburger w/ a pretzel style bun. it was awesome. not a huge restaurant/pub so on gamedays/events downtown, obviously it will be very crowded. but, will always come back here. love the troll!

in summary: beer cheese, good and warm, chicken fingers super yummy, troll statue, awfully cute. but everything else: utterly mediocre bordering on dumb. the lackluster service. the burned bacon, the greasy fish, the blah pasta congealing in the bowl, the snarky servers lacking any kind of charm, and the unreasonable cost. sorry mr. troll, we won’t be visiting your pub again.

if you are in louisville go here. i'm 27 cool low key place on the weekdays. great music great appetizers and an awesome atmosphere, can't talk about the food (i didn't have any) but if you're looking to drink in downtown go here.

love the cuvée des troll!!!! my favorite beer by far!!!

pretty good at best. i met a friend here for dinner and drinks on a tuesday night. it was super cold outside so it wasn't busy at all. i really like the decor and ambiance of the place, very appropriate for the name.
the beer list was good, i would recommend the cuvee de troll, their signature beer from belgium, its delicious. the food was pretty standard. i had the reuben and my friend had a veggie pizza. i would say right above bar food quality, but not much.
they could definitely look into developing the menu more. but i'd definitely return.

troll food. cool decor but the name fits the food. ordered wings at the bar, 6 skimpy ,cold, half cooked winglets came out. if you cant get wings right your lame and your chef is even worse.

great space, food boring. i love the space, but, when i went with a party of four, everything we ordered didn't have the feel of the place being unique in any way. and, when the food was served, it was lackluster, at best.
it is a restaurant, after all. they should concentrate on the menu. i can't even say it's glorified bar food. i could walk into any city and find this mediocre shlock.
it's obvious they have someone at the helm in the kitchen with little or no experience....or the owners don't have a clear vision of what it takes to make it in this town of restaurants and diners.....

a group of 4 if us went before a ball game. we were pleasantly surprised with how broad the menu was. the angry alfredo was awesome as was the hot brown n reuben's. service was awesome. will most definately go again and again.

a little overpriced. we went one sunday afternoon, the place wasn't crowded, but the service was hit or miss. the homemade loaded chips appetizer was tasty but the loaded really wasn't accurate. our entrees were fine, we left still a bit hungry and the wallet was lighter with not a lot of satisfaction.

great atmosphere, service lacking. went to the troll before the u of l game. we were seated immediately. they have a nice beer list which included hoptimus prime which i ordered. awesome beer. i can't tell you if the beer cheese app. was good or not because it never arrived. when they delivered our food my daughters taco salad had tomatoes on it after clearly asking that they be left off. i know mistakes happen but they never apologized either time. my beer ran empty which is not a good thing. i really liked the atmosphere and could see where this place has potential but i do not think i will return.
