the social bar and grill

really nice little neighborhood restaurant. wonderful patio, fresh ingredients that are well prepared. service is attentive and very helpful. been there twice now and wasn't disappointed either time. the location on thea foss waterway is perfect!

came here for lunch.  had the paella and it was fantastic.  the outdoor patio next to the glass museum made a great setting for eating out on a sunny day.  would highly recommend coming here.

late lunch with the girls. late lunch, awesome day, allowed the pup outside. drinks were okay. waitress took our order, delivered food and then said she was transferring us and left. never saw anyone until we went looking. oops! calamari just typical, clams had strong wine flavor-overwhelmed the flavor, tuna was alright. everything was mediocre at best.

waited for 25mins.. on one sitting us.. so, we find sit for ourselves and the waitress came to move us to another table.. waited another 15 mins still no one taking our orders.. so, we left! can't tell you how the foods.. should review your" time and motion study".. this is very important .. just my two cents

delicious salmon salad. nice waterfront location. great place for a mojito and coho salad.

awesome!. love this place, eat here regularly and i am never disappointed with anything. always good service, good drinks and really quality food!!

if craving brussel sprouts as a side dish says anything about choosing a destination bar and grill themed restaurant, then the bar has to be set pretty darned high for the rest of the menu. the social effectively meets this challenge on all fronts from cocktail / wine list selection to appetizers to sandwiches / main dish on to desserts. -the favored element is crafted attention to seasonal specialties -- especially the autumn harvest items and pre-holiday. so....worth the trip under the waterfront bridges and condos in tacoma art / glass museum districts to go to!

hit or miss but worth it!. although we haven't tried all of the dishes, there are certain ones i have to disagree with. tonight i had the bacon carbonara and was so upset with it that i felt i absolutely had to comment on it. let me start off with saying i absolutely love garlic. i put it in many of my dishes and im not stingy with it! after eating a little over half of this pasta dish i just couldnt take it anymore. i brushed aside...11 cloves of garlic! for me, this was beyond too much garlic and keep in mind i had already ate a lot of it. besides the garlic issue, everything else was great. there could have been a little more bacon in it but the amount of sauce and peas were a great treat.

the first time we went to the social i got the bbq pulled pork sandwich. i was in heaven, i had cravings for weeks, i had to have more! we finally went back and of course i got the same thing. unfortunately, it was very different. it was about half it's size, cold, not pulled at all, and i wasnt satisfied. we figured that something must have gone wrong and sure enough we were right, we just didnt word our order right and they thought it was something else.

my boyfriend has ordered the same thing every single time and im sure he wont ever change it: the 1/2lb beef bacon and cheddar burger. every time he orders it he asks for it to be medium well and every time he gets it its always under cooked. by the looks of it (ive never been able to pry his hands off it for a tiny bite!), it looks very delicious and i wouldnt mind getting one for myself some day. hopefully ordering it well done will make it so i dont have to cringe at the sight of blood :(

lastly, we ordered the mac n cheese from the "small people" section. lets just say my boyfriend could make better mac n cheese and he can barely make a sandwich! we also got the cream roasted potatoes. i would say those alone will make me keep going back. they were so incredible! and for only $5? i feel like i need to stock up on them :p

after all of the issues we've had we will still go back, mostly since its so convenient (we live within walking distance). even though getting our dish right is hit or miss, its still definitely worth it. service is pretty good as they are very friendly and run around in a timely manner. im sure the views are wonderful during the non-winter times too but unfortunately that is the only time we've gone.

p.s. the fries are awesome! regular and sweet potato, both so yummy, although i will always lean towards the sweet potato ones :)

sautéed prawns are divine!

saturday at the social. my wife and i visited the social for dinner last saturday. we enjoyed an excellent meal and lots of smiling faces. my wife had the new york steak and i had the bacon carbonara. the menu is upscale with some excellent side dishes like grilled asparagus that you can add to your main course. over all i would rate the atmosphere as pretty cool next to the water way and the glass museum. had a great time we will be back

solid new bar & grill in t-town. i drove from seattle to social bar and grill on a tip from a buddy. cool location right on the water in tacoma, right next to the glass museum. my party and i were greeted by friendly faces. we sat in the bar; however there was plenty of seating options, including a fire pit outside. the food: prawns, duck, beef skewers, calamari, we had a bunch of small plates. all were cooked to perfection a complimented with the right spices and accompanying starches & veggies. all were super fun to eat and really delicious. good looking (i am aware i am shallow) and professional staff. the social b&g gets top marks. go next time you're in town, even worth a special trip.

great happy hour. the social is rad. this is definitely my new favorite spot simply because they give you the option of starting your night off with bacon! the food was so good...i did my happy dance!
