the royal india restaurant

i am an urbanspoon employee in seattle and i dine out a lot. indian is probably my favorite cuisine and i just had an amazing lunch buffet here. i learned they just finished a big renovation several weeks ago and the space is simply elegant and relaxing. the food was really delicious and i love how they have a hot chai as part of the buffet. i will be back for dinner and a sitar music show asap!

absolutely wonderful. hands down the best indian food in washington. i've been eating here regularly for about 10 years now and you can't beat the food. favorites of mine are the saag paneer and butter chicken, but i've tasted most of the combinations available. the chai is to die for so do yourself a favor and order that no matter what you eat. i also suggest the royal india delight appetizer plate if you have two people, it offers a variety of items to try.

the buffet is great, but do yourself a favor and go early, they open it at 11:00 and i usually try to get in before noon. fair warning, the chai goes quickly and while they try and keep the carafe filled you may have to wait.

the staff is friendly and the new decor is beautiful. rashid, the owner, knows most of the regulars by name and often stops by tables to chat.

beware. this restaurant charges 18% gratuity on take out orders. the food is very ordinary - mild and tasteless. they have a great location, but do not deliver on quality or value for money.

be warned.

best indian food around. i'm a fan of indian cuisine, i've had curries in new york, san francisco, and just about every major city in between. when i found royal india i wasn't expecting much, but the food is wonderful. the service can be a bit slow at times, but the meal will be well worth it. try the garlic naan with a pomagrenate lamb or chicken saag. other favorites are mango chicken and butter chicken.

the buffet is pretty decent too, but go early.
