not worth it!. i originally made dinner reservations for 7:30pm but was running late so i called them to let them know. the said they had reservation for 8:15 so i took it. when we got there, we still had to wait 2 hours before being seated for dinner. by this time, everyone was starving. we had ordered some steaks - medium rare, which came out medium well, to well done. it was dry and tough. the service was okay, but the majority of the servers and front desk people are not very friendly and have a certain pretentiousness. i think they need some training in the hotel and hospitality management department. this place seems to be rated as a 4 star hotel but the service is about a 1 star. only good thing was my company and the hotel was quite hip and had eye appeal.

warning!! i don't normally submit reviews but feel compelled to do so now. unfortunately i just experienced the absolute worse dining experience of my 47 years! i just blew $400 on complete garbage ! the 3 course meal from the salad, soup, steak and dessert were all horrific!!!
do not waste your time and money at this joke of a restaurant. atmosphere, setting and amenities were good but food was terrible. i wouldn't even consider taking the complete leftovers to my dogs !!!

the penthouse is a very stylish and beautiful restaurant across the street from the beach. fortunately the clouds parted and we were able to enjoy a delicious meal with a beautiful view of the beach. i had a great grilled cheese and short rib sandwich. this was a combination i've never had and thoroughly enjoyed the meal.

atop the hip huntley hotel, the penthouse does not disappoint with either food or the view. on a clear day from the right table you can see the waves hitting the sand at santa monica beach and the skyscrapers of downtown in one view. the massive bar is like a huge semicircular spaceship and a fun place for drinks. cocktails are quite good, especially the "dream" one which was quite spicy. the various cuts of steak are cooked nicely. vegetarian options are fewer; the eggplant dish was tasty and filling. table service is attentive and courteous. where the penthouse really needs to improve is the host and hostess. they are not particularly friendly or welcoming. and once you give your name, give no direction on where to wait, leaving guests to figure it out for themselves.

good food, great drinks, awesome view, cool vibe!. planned a nice dinner out and the restaurant did not disappoint. great service, the waitress called me by my last name, and was attentive. the drinks are very unique and well made - try the spicy margarita - better then any spicy ceasar you will have in your life!

the brick chicken and parpardelle were very tasty.

try the profiteroles - unique twist with ice cream and pastry.

one of the tallest buildings in the vicinity, the huntley serves up delicious new-american fare in the heart of santa monica. it’s beautifully decorated with sweeping views of the ocean and malibu, and if you make reservations early enough, you can usually request a window seat. it’s romantic without being over the top and the array of young socialites that frequent this place make it a hot spot for drinks on a casual evening out as well.

having lunch at the penthouse at the huntley was a no-brainer. inside and out, the property is exquisite and fancy. chic, modern, and clean, the food was almost out shined by the beauty of this property. typically, i would not choose such a fancy, and such a far place. fortunately, the dine la menu was hard to pass up. once i entered the roof top property, which should be the “penthouse” of the hotel, i was shocked at the view. from almost every window, you can see the ocean or los angeles. luckily, i was seated at the corner where i had views of downtown los angeles and the pacific ocean. it was such an amazing view as i enjoyed my lunch. even though we had reservations, we needed to wait for our table at the bar. it may all be part of the business, but i feel like restaurants make patrons wait at the bar so that we buy overprices drinks. well, call me a sucker. i was bored and sat at a bar. naturally, i ordered a cocktail. not having breakfast made me yearn for some coffee. in hind s

with its awe-inspiring sweeping 360-degree views of the santa monica california shoreline, its lavishly-appointed ultra chic beachy motif, and fine contemporary american culinary treats crafted and meticulously presented by executive chef seth greenburg, the penthouse restaurant & lounge has evolved into one of the city’s most loved destinations for charming and romancing locals and those from afar in a trendy and seductively inviting atmosphere. located on the eighteenth top floor of the sophisticated 240-room huntley hotel in beautiful santa monica, california, the penthouse offers patrons expansive shoreline views from the venue’s innumerable windows providing views from the coast of malibu to the shores of palos verdes on a clear day.   there’s no better way to get to the penthouse than taking a ride in the glass-enclosed elevator, which showcases the waterfront and beaches of santa monica.  above are a few  photos of the incredible view before reaching the top floor. innovative im

spent our 10th anniversary dinner here. came to san diego on a whim. got a great reservation with window seating day of. great young professional bar scene. atmosphere was unexpectantly amazing. usually good view = my parent sipping on manhattan's. not here! get there in time for sunset. food was amazing. it's true that a great view makes your food taste even better.

...it was fabulous. panoramic views over the beach also helped. good views make food taste better. it's a scientific fact. not having eaten much in forty eight hours, the best way to start a meal is with a cocktail. the penthouse has its own mixologist, and the thyme and cucumber amnesia is delightful. it is "handpressed hothouse cucumbers and fresh thyme mellowed with copious amounts of aviation new western dry gin, freshly squeezed lime and white cranberry juice." yes. for starters, we thought we'd have woodfired flat bread with tomato, torn basil and fresh mozzarella. for only $10, we were expecting something small to fire up our appetite. on the contrary. it w
