good food and selection of drinks.
their cheese curds are overrated, but still good (a tad underdone - i know, i just committed sacrilege by daring to criticize their curds! but it's true.) i've had better at numerous places (the statehouse bar at the edgewater hotel, the tornado club, oss and others, are also better).
i like the walleye sandwich the best of their food options...very tasty.
but this place doesn't deserve a 4.6/5 rating. it's good, but it's not that good. this overrating also shows by the long wait times to get a table. the wait times on weekends are ridiculous.
some might conclude that justifies the very high rating...if the wait is that long, it must be that good.
not to me. a 3.5/5 (maybe a 3.75/5) is more appropriate.
there are so many other places i go inmadisonthat i think are as good or better and have shorter wait times.
if there are open tables, i'll dine here on occasion. if not, i'll happily go elsewhere.

very disapointed. just moved tomadisonand had been looking forward to trying what looked to be a cool spot on the sqaure, but i was sadly mistaken!! after waiting close to 2 hours for a table the food my husband and i ordered was greasy and without alot of flavor! nice concept, poorly executed!

i have had burgers all over themadisonarea, and wasnt impressed at all. i had a whiye russian that was way off the mark too. the cheese curds were amazing, and the staff was nice though. i will guve them another try one day, maybe i just had a bad night.

this place is great. a local tavern serving wisconsin fare, anyone frommadison(or who has visited) will likely recommend it! i felt it was necessary to order an old fashioned, the bars namesake also gets an entire page on the menu dedicated to it. i picked the rye bourbon old fashioned ($7), it's made with redemption high rye bourbon, a brand which i have long been a fan

my kind of place!. it sits in the shadow of the capital building inmadisonand is a great "old fashioned" kind of place. there is old time music playing, the tables are set up to encourage talking to your neighbors and the food is pretty good. if you want quiet, this isn't the bar for you!

the beer list is huge, more taps then you could imagine.

the grilled cheese sandwich is fabulous - get the home made chips with it, a pint of beer and you are there!

best fried cheese curds on the planet.. 5 stars just for the cheese curds. my food has always been good here, but the cheese curds are extremely unique and better than any other curd out there. the breading is different - lighter than most - and the dipping sauces are very tasty. i have been tempted to visitmadisonfrom milwaukee just to get some of these curds.

very fun. great food and location. true to wisconsin favorites, this place has always delivered. they have a great local beer selection, in addition to tasty food. try it for the friday fishfry, i personally prefer the walleye, and it's one of the only places inmadisonthat does it really well.
