the lotus garden

amazing food!. this place is great! the food is incredible, a carefully chosen mix of thai, cambodian and japanese flavors. start with the calamari, entree of one of the curries, and an iced thai tea. i can't say enough good things about this place, the staff was so nice, the owner came over to talk to us. coming from nyc where we have tons of asian fusion restaurants, it's refreshing to find creative cuisine, with central ny friendliness. honestly, this is my new favorite place in the area. we'll be back.

good food, no delivery. we couldn't decide between thai or vietnamese. the lotus garden was the perfect solution.

very fresh and flavorful. generous portions, and entrees come with a salad so you’re pretty much guaranteed leftovers, especially if you indulge in an appetizer (we had spring rolls!) service was well-timed and gracious. definitely will come back.

love this place, never had a meal i wasn't happy with, until the other night... not with the meal itself, that was delish, but with the steamed dumplings!! they changed the recipe of the meat filling and it's really not that good. :0/ bring back the old recipe!!!

no delivery. i called for a delivery, but i was told that they don't do deliveries.

very nice decor and wonderful staff! the food was delicious and the drinks were very good. added up to a wonderful afternoon excursion and we will return :))

had a great lunch there today. fresh salad. great spice on the thai entree and a delicious lemoncello sorbet for dessert. wonderful service also and you can't beat the price. on my short list of real favorites

change of location soon!. this week is the last week that the lotus garden will be at their bleecker st. location. starting october 1st, they will be at 1011 king st. next to the stanley theater.

what a great treat!. this place is a gem in utica! expect mostly authentic southeast asian items with a slight "western" touch, but also do not expect "chinese" food. the lotus garden is not your typical asian food joint. this is a good thing. it is special and i've had remarkable meals and great service here. the closest i've ever had to this food was when i was traveling through southeast asia. do not be confused by the menu. the owners and staff will be patient if you're not fully up-to-speed on the names and ingredients. if you tell them what you like and do not like, i would always count on a great owner/chef recommendation. i will be back often.

the first time i went here it was awesome ! i had no complaints whatsoever ... however i recently went with some friends and not only did the waitress give an attitude at my friend ordering ice cream instead of a meal, but the service was not the greatest, very slow and needless to say i was disappointed . i think the key is coming when there aren't a lot of people there... but if you do, prepare to be ignored.

never a bad meal. i've tried many dishes on the menu, since i work in utica and it's very convenient, and i've never been disappointed. yes, there are dishes that i prefer, but in terms of the quality of the ingredients and the preparation, i have no complaints. not only is the food excellent, but i love seeing the next generation of ethnic restaurants come up; utica has a great tradition of italian, lebanese and deli restaurants and i love seeing the new flavors come with the new residents of our area. a really lovely family owns and runs the restaurant, and they're always available for advice and recommendations. as for the review that mentioned servers who don't speak english, i haven't had that experience; i've had a server who is still learning english and didn't speak it that well, but the experience was still good. (for the love of all you hold dear, we're a nation of immigrants - for the most part - and you're going to criticize some one who's new here and learning as if your ancestors emerged from the womb knowing every language they might ever need? that speaks more to your character than the quality of the service here.)
