the gypsy saloon

this was a great little restaurant.  food was quite good, service was great, and it was very pleasant to sit outside in the front of the restaurant.

wine and drink list was a bit small and over-priced, but that did not ruin the experience.  

definitely a good place, and in walking distance of the marriott up the hill.

great service. i had the mussels margarita and the arugula salad. the mussels were an interesting but delicious recipe. traditional broth with an added kick of jalapeño pepper. the salad had a nice balance of goat cheese, pine nuts and artichoke hearts with a lights oil dressing.

average service; brassy owner. a gentle inquiry about the long wait for food resulted in a wait person who said "well i don't make the food", an apologetic manager who went to check on the order, and finally a owner who, rather than talking with me privately (as i did with the other folks), chose to tell half the room that the food is all fresh-made and the normal wait time is 30 minutes, and that ours was ready in 32.

well, the reality is that it was much longer, so i suspect the waitperson failed to enter the order right away. i explained that neither the waitperson nor the manager explained the "30 minute rule" and both agreed that the order took too long to fill. so, we all heard about how she has been in the business for 37 years, it's only food, and that she would remove my meal from he check.

the food was served hot, at least, but was not spectacular.

i love this place..nice staff,great food.try the crab fries they are awesome!!

pleasant surprise. we decided to hit the gypsy on a whim and were very pleasantly surprised with both the atmosphere and the food. all courses were very well prepared, creatively constructed and presented. the place is a bit loud but it fits well with the atmosphere. service was spot on.

we will be back.

great lobster mac and cheese!. best lobster mac and cheese around. also, very consistent quality and good drinks.

great food and friendly staff. i love the tuna and lobster mac & cheese. i had so much fun there i broke my thumb trying to moon my friends on the way home!!
