wonderful experience. the fearrington house was an experience unto itself. beautiful grounds, and a quite restaurant set back behind the main house.

all the ingredients used in this seasonal menu are fresh from the farm, and everything is made to perfection.

this is a foodies kind of restaurant, and one that i would absolutely love to visit again.

widely celebrated for their soufflé, it was after a deconstructed hot toddy that proved both boozy and buttery that the ethereal chocolate tower arrived, and bursting forth over top of the large ramekin the restaurant’s signature dish was every bit worthy its high praise, each soft bite complimented by light cream and dark chocolate sauce while the alternative of pumpkin cake proved far more subtle, the flavor somewhat akin to really moist zucchini bread with no lack of contrasting texture to be found.

must completely ignore price as a factor to compare, prepare for a second mortgage, all else superb. my girlfriend and i went to this restaurant for my birthday in july. i had been wanting to go for years. i thought i would have to make a reservation months in advance for saturday night dinner at 7:00 but actually did so the day prior. based on the number of empty tables which exceeded the occupied ones by a margin of about 2:1, i don't think reservations are ever needed, something they would never reveal. service was wonderful and impeccable, the food was terrific, very well presented, the restaurant itself very pleasant and the surroundings are lovely. all very elegant and romantic. they came out several times with samples which were delicious.

the only complaint is that the prices are very simply outrageous. we walked out with tax and tip with a $300 bill that included two glasses of basic wine. all items are fixe prixe starting at $95 per person for a three course meal. you would easily triple that per person with the chef's course and wine pairing. that is simply unjustifiable. there is nothing that calls for that except for gross conspicuous consumption, e.g. bragging rights about how insanely overpriced the experience was.

as nice as the restaurant, food and service is, i would rather have had three or more meals at an equivalent restaurant for the same money. i strongly suspect there are not many regular customers. this is just a one off experience to satisfy curiosity for most.

beautiful and elegant. the place is beautiful and the plating is absolutely gorgeous! it is a long and elegant dining experience (2-3 hours) so try not to plan anything time sensitive after dinner.

at a place like this, it would be hard to order something you didn't like. forget what you think you know about lamb or pork or what anything else tastes like. they do it better.

if you really are conflicted with the menu, the person who knows the most about it is your waiter. ask him/her.

fyi, they are strict with the dress code during dinner. (they strongly prefer men with suits or sport coats) you will most likely be put towards the back of the restaurant if you don't take it seriously.

i’ve read the word, “enchanting” used to refer to the menu offerings of fearrington house chef colin bedford more than once. i find myself incapable of finding a term that better describes dining there. a recent renovation has invited an airy luminous quality to the space itself, while the cuisine surprises and captivates. if there is any slight mis-step in fearrington house service, it is small and made inconsequential by the many shining points of this restaurant.

there were a ton of other post-desserts, canapes, and amuse bouches thrown in to make it a truly wonderful meal. i don't know if we fully appreciated it since we gorged ourselves at the pig just a few hours earlier which i don't regret for one bit. i can tell you though, that the meal that was served us at fearrington house was one of the more visually stunning meals i've had in a long time and probably rivals volt. and while good food is nice to look at, it should always be about the flavor and this meal definitely had that in spades. i went down to north carolina to visit some family and had lowered my expectations on what kind of culinary adventure i would find down there. not only were my expectations blown away, i think i had some of the best meals ever during my stay. thanks for your hospitality north carolina, i hope to come back soon.

woody. i was so disappointed to read one of the reviews from titan. i've had brunch @ the granary many times & the food is always fresh & the service is excellent! to compare this resturant w/ the fearrington house is like apples & oranges. too bad titan had an unpleasant experience.

5 star quality and service. a trip to the fearrington house has always been one of delight and discovery. we have been frequenting the fearrington house for years, and have never been disappointed!

from the beautiful stroll on the grounds, to the lovely walk up to the front door, you will be assured of a wonderful evening.

the staff ( particularly joris and maximilian but really everyone) make you feel welcome and relaxed. there is a true desire to make sure your dining experience is comfortable.

the restaruant is warm and inviting. the basic architecture of this converted southern home replete with antiques and original art conspires with the well tended and gorgeous surrounding gardens to produce an elegant evening that cannot be reproduced anywhere in the triangle (or beyond).

the food (chef graham fox, chocolatiere jill leckey) has never disappointed. the aaa 5 diamond award is well deserved. the food is "contemporary cuisine" with changing menus and wine pairings available. there is an extensive wine cellar, assuring perfect wine pairings.

i particularly like that local produce (even produced on-site in the herb and vegetable garden) is used.the result is a meal that truly flavorful and always cooked to perfection. my experience has consistently been very positive over many visits.

and the desserts! ahhh what a joy to "have" to make that decision! our favorite is the hot chocolate soufflé with chocolate sauce. simply the best i have ever eated.

i encourage you to give the fearrington house a try. i wouldn't be surprised if it became your favorite elegant restaurant as well!
