the elm tree - the syrene hotel

dinner the elm tree !!!!
i opted for snails for starters, paella for mains and caramelised camembert for desserts.
the snails were served cold so i wasn't so impressed with that .
the paella was just a let down for me i wasn't hardly impressed i only ate the seafood elements couldn't eat that rice swimming in that gravy !
i sure have tasted better snails and paella so let's just say i wouldn't be in a hurry to try any of these two dishes again.

the dessert saved the night for me both the creme brûlée and the camembert were beautifully plated and tasted amazing... i absolutely enjoyed that .

i do love the boutique hotel is a nice find lovely outside for a good summer day .very elegant and classy!
the service was very good i would try it for lunch / brunch in summer just to enjoy the ambiance and different environment .
i am looking forward to sampling more dishes and their wines next time .

boutique hotel in rivonia and they also make their own wine. did not sample their wine but had great options from their wine list for local wines and some french champagnes. had the rump steak which was perfectly cooked and matured. menu was limited but good quality food. desert was also very good, banana and peanut butter ice cream with a whole cherry syrup. worth a visit!

my amazing fiancée, now wife booked this place for our signing. the way they treated us was out of the world. they organised a special private room for the signing. it created such a beautiful atmosphere. we then did the brunch with friends and the food was just as amazing. the waiter was as gracious as the venue. i would recommend it for any special occasions or any chilled brunch/lunch.

my experience was mainlly buffet or pre-set menu. not exciting but still interesting food since the restaurant seems to be more a support for the hotel an events rather than "outsiders". nevertheless enjoyable.

we came for a quiet breakfast, the service was great, the cappuccinos were delicious and we even got a little muesli, fruit and yogurt with glitter surprise to start! really lovely.

really lovely, elegant decor. jozi wine is made here (new concept for me). i am enjoying the smg jozi wine. i ordered the filler boursin. it's truffle infused fillet, basil croquettes and boursin (french cream cheese). the main was good. i have been waiting forever to order desert. i think we are just going to leave. so in summation; food was good, i liked the wine that is made here (ct grapes). unfortunately the service was terrible. and there has been a maximum of three tables occupied while we have been here.
