directly opposite the hyde park and museum station, the location of canopy is ideal and accessible, especially after a nice morning walk in the park. the cafe has both indoor and outdoor seatings with a lovely interior. service is friendly and effective, it doesn't hurt for the staff to joke around a bit with customers.
canopy egg nest was the first thing caught our eyes as it is quite different from your usual breakfast or brunch dishes. theeggsare poached first and then wrapped in brick pastry and served with sour cream, smashed avocado, cherry tomato and balsamic reduction. we loved the fact that it came with properly smashed avocado. the pastry was really thin and crispy, which added nice texture to the dish.
the daily special at the time of our visit is the breakfast stack. according to the staff, this is quite a popular item and it might become a regular menu item soon. poachedeggsare laid on top of baby spinach and toasted sourdough, then served with slow roasted tomato and prosciutto wafers, beetroot cubes and goats cheese. it is as good as breakfast combination goes. everything is married together in superb balance. the freshness of the beetroot coupled with the tanginess of the cheese and saltiness of the prosciutto create a dish with many flavours and texture.
we finished our meal with a sweet ending - the french toast. it is dusted in cinnamon sugar and served with vanilla bean mascarpone and mixed berry compote. the vanilla bean mascarpone was much needed to bring the flavour out of the dish.
we enjoyed our walk in the park and glad to finish the lovely morning with a satisfying breakfast in canopy.
