the bootlegger italian bistro

this place is old italian and was the best food ever ! there was 6 in our party and everyone loved there dish . our waiter was very helpful and recommended the bolognese . 4 of us ordered it and it was yummy . it was so much the guys couldn’t even finish theres. one of us ordered the spaghetti and the other the manicotti and it was fabulous . we will definitely comeback if we’re ever in las vegas again . the bread is to die for and we couldn’t get enough . we accidentally came across this place , but will definitely remember it . best food we’ve had since we’ve been here ! enjoy 😊👍

arriving as a party of 5 on a thursday evening without a reservation, we were told the wait was 45 minutes. we gladly parked ourselves at the bar to wait. no sonnet had we all received our drinks when a table became available. we were seated in the dining room, in a corner. at the opposite end of the room, a harpist played - harp music isn't often heard and is quite soothing.

as we reviewed the extensive menu, our waiter brought us bread with marinara sauce. the bread was very interesting-almost bite-sized puff pastry brushed with olive oil. i opted for the chicken piccata that comes with a side of fettuccine alfredo.

the entrees arrived fairly quickly and were good sized. the piccata was generously topped with lemon slices and capers along with a large side of fettuccine alfredo. the chicken was excellent-pounded thin but very moist. the sauce was excellent, tart yet creamy from the lemon. the alfredo sauce was also quite tasty - an excellent compliment to the chicken.

the bootlegger is one of a dying breed - a family owned restaurant. the prices are moderate but with portions that make the prices reasonable. i'll be back when i'm in town!

i ordered a pizza half cheese and half pepperocini. the waitress brought everyone else's food before mine and said the kitchen had accidentally made my pizza with pepperoni and they were remaking it. a few bites in i decided to investigate what the "off" taste was with my pizza... they just peeled off the pepperoni, leaving the ends on and added pepperocinis! awful! if you are vege do not go here. the kitchen doesn't respect diner preferences and are lazy!! pass on this one.

excellent service and wonderful food. we came in at 5:15pm on a saturday with a party of 6 and they managed to seat us within 10 minutes. it was because we were so early but still, without reservations on a saturday we were expecting longer.

we ate veal, salmon, chicken, eggplant, and pasta dishes. everyone said theirs was the best. i tried several and truthfully they were all good. the grilled salmon was probably the best.

and oh my goodness, the desserts were fantastic. the cannoli were perfect.

the only thing i did not like was that it was far, far too loud. really, we were having to raise our voices to almost shouting to be heard by anyone other than our immediate neighbor (and we each had to lean in to hear the person next to us). i'm not sure if it was the area we were in, they packed us in, or the piano player or what but the noise level detracted from all the wonderful things. i will go back but maybe for a 3pm dinner.

location perfect for a just-off-the-plane breakfast. flew into town and hadn't researched anything -- where to get a good breakfast? the bootlegger's 24/7 sign was exactly what we needed to see! enjoyed a frittata maria and a beer (gotta love vacation). enjoyed the side of panini -- a small touch, but a nice changeup from boring toast. very friendly service in the (rather dark) bar (i believe that was the only room open at the time). nice to know it is there, so close to the airport but far enough away from the insanity of the strip.

great for a wedding reception. my wife and i recently had our wedding reception at bootlegger (the vegas room). we had about 30 friends and family members. from the beginning working with denise, we had every question answered to our satisfaction and denise was very accommodating, including providing several choices for the entrees. the price for our reception was right on our budget. during the reception itself, the wait staff was phenomenal and the food was simply amazing. all of our guests thoroughly enjoyed their entrees. we were able to bring in our own cupcakes and cake and we were also allowed to play our playlist from our ipod. there was not one disappointment with bootlegger. prior to our reception, we visited and ate at bootlegger twice. we look forward to making bootlegger a regular stop on every trip we make to vegas. i would highly recommend bootlegger as a wedding reception venue.

worst experience ever. worst customer service experience of my life

i have been going to the bootlegger for over 30 years since it was on trop and reno. i love their pizza. my husband and i wanted to take his mother and brother out for pizza. so we went and the main dining room was empty. a group of 6 was walking out telling us as we sat there for our table that the place is empty but they wont sit anyone. finally, the gen manager went to sit us in the lounge, next to the door. i said im not sitting here. he said well i can sit you in another room but it is empty and we will be the only ones in there. i said that's fine. when we got there, i said can we have a pizza menu. he said well we only sit those people in the lounge, but ill let it slide?!?! then the waiter comes up and says so i guess everyone is just having water? so i guess if you are ordering pizza you must not be entitled to a wine list or a drink from the bar. he then said well pizza takes at least 30 minutes, i think in an attempt to detour us from ordering pizza. when the pizza came 10 minutes later, he put it on the small bread plates, where the pizza was bigger than the plate. completely rude and distasteful.

i have never in my life been treated so poorly, not only by a waiter or a general manager. my biggest regret is that we didn't leave at the first smart ass comment.

i strongly believe we were treated like this because my husband and his family are mexican. no one around us received the same treatment.

i told the general manager at the end and basically he could care less. bootlegger just lost a loyal customer of over 30 years who at least once a week bought a pizza. btw, i spent $40 for the pizza, which compared to their competitors, is overpriced.

beware when going there. its dark, service is rude from the ho9st, to wait staff, and to the manager. if you have a problem they wont care. a business shuld only care abo0ut one color and that is green for money. i guess ours wasnt green enough.

baked ravioli was tasty. waiter was cold and indifferent. the split plate charge was ridiculous! i don't eat much, usually just take a small amount from my husbands plate. the hotel we are staying in doesn't have a fridge so we don't want leftovers. we also never stiff waiters due to my small portion sizing, always doubling the total of the bill and then tipping off that number. due to the ridiculous split plate charge, i only drank water, and we purchased a "lighter lunch" w/no dessert too. due to the aloofness of the waiter and thousands of places to eat in vegas we will not return.

excellent food. we have eaten at the previous location on sahara when it was called venetian where the food was always perfectly cooked and delicious. we had not been to las vegas for a few years and we so very happy to discover the new location and name change. the food is still delicious and cooked perfectly. we would come to vegas just to be able to eat at bootleggers! our waiter jake and his assistants were very friendly and attentive, our drinks, bread, wonderful tomato antipasta, appetizer and main course was served in a way that we were not rushed and were able to enjoy every dish.

pleasant surprise. stopped into this place for dinner on a whim.

the wait staff was just right .... gave good suggestions ..... attentive but not overly so....

all of the food we tried was good ..... salad was really good as was the lasagna .....

good hearty italian restraunt. great ambiance, attentative service, and tasty food. it's a nice change eating outside the strip while in vegas

a must stop place. for over 15 years, everytime i am in las vegas, i have to stop in to the bootlegger bistro! what brings me back time after time?? the lasagna!
great food, great atmosphere, great prices

gem off strip. my girlfriend and i like to get away from the strip and we decided to give bootleggers a shot. short drive from downtown and strip, and well worth the trip. the food was excellent, service was great, and there was a gent playing the piano which made for a wonderful dinner. the shrimp linguine and wedge for a starter were the highlights.

cheers bootleggers, we will be back most definitely.
