the blue pig is a parisian-inspired bistro including a deli counter full of yummy fresh meat, bread, terrines, patés and cheeses. they have a seasonal menu that changes on a weekly basis, taking the best local and continental produce, which makes it a great place to build your own platter.   i decided to build my platter using the milano salami, godminster cheddar, wild mushroom and apricot pâté, roast onion and garlic bread knots with a big dollop of roast onion houmous.  the salami was a very finely sliced dry-cured italian salami seasoned with white wine, pepper and hint of garlic and was absolutely delicious. my pâté was very fruity a

drinking on an empty stomach is never a good idea. i either end up in tears, conducting one of my famous hugathons (nobody is safe) or performing the ‘hit me baby one more time’ dance in the street. i was off on a hen do and a spell of sunny weather had initiated an afternoon drinking session. we were in northern quarter haunt the blue pig and after taking one sip of my old fashioned, i knew some form of sustenance would be required to prevent me being sick on my shoes. i was going to settle for my favourite snack of choice, a bag of crisps, but it turned out the gang were also feeling a tad peckish so we decided to turn to the menu. my old fashioned espresso daiquiri - like the tastiest tiramisu there’s a parisian feel to the blue pig and so it felt perfectly natural to order meat and cheese sharing platters. both were phenomenal. highlights for me being the tangfest of a blue cheese, sweet wine poached pear and a pate so delicious, i wanted to inform my companions it was made of actu

another indulgent pud, ‘pistachio & white chocolate brownie’ was just as good. crunchy on top, gooey in the middle, deep chocolate flavour with crunchy bits of candied pistachio, drizzled with warm, rich chocolate sauce and served with vanilla ice cream

the blue pig in the past didn’t disappoint but as the rest of the bars and eateries around them began to get busy on a weekend evening, this place was seemingly overlooked.
so in an effort to relax things a little and welcome more people into the cosy, dark and, i suppose, indulgently comfortable interior, the 333 menu (3 starters, 3 mains & 3 desserts) has been dropped and been replaced with something more easy going.

awesome. lovely atmosphere & food that delights your palette.. tickles your fancy leaving you weeping with joy... er yes i enjoyed my fill!

as well as deli boards throughout the day, the blue pig’s afternoon and evening menu is called the ‘333 menu’ – presenting a choice of three starters, mains and puddings for £20 (dishes are priced and can be bought individually too). the menu is seasonal and changes weekly with claims that it features ‘some of the finest produce around today sourced from both local and continental suppliers’.
