the bathers' pavilion
bathers pavillion let down. my family and i have come here a few times and have always enjoyed the magical sea views. today, unfortunately, the food was very dissapointing. my food was delivered cold. i then sent it back and it took as long for my meal to arrive as it did for my wife to finish her pancakes (which were pleasant enough). when my eggs benedict did eventually arrived there was so much slime in the eggs that the bread was soaking wet the moment i cut through the eggs.

the coffee was very mediocre. it had that bubbly foam rather than a creamy foam andnthe foam it did have was half way down the glass. i like a full cup of coffee not half with bubbly foam.

next time we'll get a coffee and a brekky roll down on the water for a third of the price and an even betterviewo fthe water. farewell bathers and let me know when there is new management - we may return then.

we had an amazing time at bathers' pavilion a few weeks ago. my partner had told the restaurant that he would be proposing after dinner and would need to leave by a certain time. they were so discrete (i had no clue), they were so attentive and looked after us so well. the food was beautiful and theviewwas amazing. the manager (?) took some wonderful photos for us too. thank you bathers' pavilion for a wonderful time!

second visit for the year and pretty disappointing experience. ludicrously overpriced.  on the positive side, theviewis outstanding and our party was given a nice window table.   service was ok, a little slow to fill wine glasses and starters were served to the wrong guests.  no big deal but you expect better.  the bread was delicious, thankfully, as we needed plenty of it to make up for the miserable portions.
my yellowfin tuna tartare appetiser was very tasty, beautifully presented and a definite highlight, albeit pretty small.  it's a starter so ok, can live with that.
the lamb rump with confit belly main i can only describe as a bad joke.  3 pieces of lamb no bigger than a 20c piece each, and a quarter of that fat.  a miserable serve of couscous and 3 or 4  "organic carrot" pieces the size of fingernails.  honestly i thought we left that portion size behind in the 90's.  taste was good, albeit not outstanding.  i am not some overweight glutton;  unfortunately this meal would not satisfy a child.  basically insulting.  i had to order more bread to save a trip to macca's on the way home.  $105 for 2 courses.  don't think so.

this restaurant has to be one of the worst. $400 and you’ll still be starving. food is minuscule and boring.
the only salvage in theviewof balmoral, otherwise the decor and ambience is so dated and depressing. spend your $$$ elsewhere.

we had heard many good things about this restaurant and decided to try it on a sunday night after being tempted by the dimmi half price dining offer. the location was stunning especially on a summer's evening, the setting was pleasant with most tables getting a goodviewof the beach. we had the 5 course degustation which was very enjoyable - the fish and meat dishes were perfectly cooked and flavours were well-balanced and refined.  the generous bread basket, amuse bouche and petit fours were a lovely nice touch. service was non-intrusive and professional.

i had always wanted to come here but when a friend told me about the special offer you get on your birthday i took a day off work to go have lunch here and it was the best decision ever.

the service was exceptional. staff were attentive yet also provided space for us to enjoy our day together and the beautifulviewif the beach through the big windows.

the best part obviously was the food. i strtted with the fiery mexican a cocktail of tequila, triple sec, grapefruit and chilli which was served in a salted glass. it was definitely fiery with the chilli coming through the drink as well as the salt rim.

shortly after we ordered our food we were served freshly baked beads that were made in house with two types of salt (murray river pink salt and white rock salt) and two types of butter, salted and unsalted. then before the entrees were served we were served an amuse bouche of pork terrine with mushroom puree and hazelnut crumb.

for entrée, we ordered venison tartare and slow cooked pork. the venison tartare was well complimented with a chestnut puree, chestnut chips and homemade grape mustard and black garlic. the grape mustard brought a great hit of favour to the dish. the slow cooked pork literally melted in your mouth.

for mains we had duck breast and beef tenderloin. the duck was perfectly cooked and the miso eggplant that came with it provided a nice salty accompaniment. the coffee crumbed beef cheek was unusual yet delicious.

finally, dessert was the best end of passionfruit mousse with valrhona dulcey blond chocolate turmeric and lemon sauce, passionfruit sorbet and chestnut cream financier blueberries, meringue, chestnut ice cream. passionfruit really shone through. however i couldn't really taste the tumeric. the chestnut cream was very subtle yet delicious.

overall, a lovely way to celebrate a birthday.

the food. all the seafoods, both salmon and oyster are very fresh and delicious. as you can tell from the photos, they are beautiful and perfect for pictures.

the service. all of the staff are friendly. they rearranged the seats for my friends and me, and patiently introduced different wines to let us decide.

btw, i like the rainbow colour napkin clothes. the oceanviewoutside is just too good to be missed.

this place has a magnificentviewof balmoral beach. the tables are well placed to enjoy theviewand the service on the wednesday that we went was quick and easy. we ordered the bolognese pasta and the eggplant pizza. both were very good but still over priced for such simple dishes that don't cost a lot to prepare. a great place to go for a special treat!😊

food was amazing. the service was bad to the point of being bizarre/ perplexing, which impacted the overall experience and gave me the shi+s - not what i was after. our booking for 1pm 3 course meal for 6 took over 2.5hr to serve. i couldn't get through a single glass of sparkling water without it being filled with still water by 3 different staff, that last one didn't even bring a refill, only a new empty glass...? they served dishes then retracted them and served them to the next table. when they got our meals correct they offered them to the wrong people. i think there are systems for waiting tables that other restaurants apply...?on the positive, the wait staff were very nice and as helpful as they could be under the circumstances. theviewwas great. did i mention the food was amazing :)

not much comes close to the experience of dining at bathers. the food is delicious and consistently interesting. the service is a delight. it has probably gotten a little more relaxed over the years, but i think that's in the context of the general sydney dining experience.

of course theviewout over the beach is unparalleled .. worth the substantial entry price in my opinion. should be on the list of everyone's must dine experiences.

amazingviewof the water and beautiful inside the restaurant. food was beautiful but portions were tiny. after 3 courses, i was still hungry. when you're paying $100 for 3 courses, you'd at least like to be satisfied after eating. very overpriced wine also, starting @ $22 for a 150ml glass! nice experience in terms of setting, viewetc but wouldn't come back.
