teote plate. this was an excellent, huge plate of food. i was not blown away by any of the flavors, but everything tasted great and seemed very healthy. the beans had a lot of cilantro. the salad and plantains were great complements. the chicken had a delicious flavor and tasted great rolled inside the arepa. definitely go here when hungry or plan to take some home. and beware of the red and green hot sauces. they are 8/9 out of 10 on a heat scale.

delicious! an unexpected delight. we randomly walked in after failing to make dinner plans and were extremely thrilled with the food. we will be back!

super cool south american joint with the best fried plantains in portland. the cocktails are stiff and delicious, and the outside eating area with an awesome central fire pit is a perfect touch to a beautiful summer evening. highly recommended.

teote is always a win! such great flavors throughout every item on the menu, creative cocktails, and the best patio. i could camp out here for a long time! be prepared to wait in line during peak hours — or come early and get great happy hour deals!

delicious food.  fast, friendly service.  a very unique building.

a bit difficult for an out of town visitor to find but well worth the effort.

i fell in love with this dish after the first bite. it had such a bold, savoury, smokey flavour that was addictive. the pork belly was super tender and added a rich fatty flavour to the dish.

you can’t miss the place with it’s bright blue front. it stands out and calls your name. you enter to a modest looking place with little seating. you walk up to the counter and place your order. i ordered teote plate with your choice of el diablo, smokey pollo, pabellón, chorizo or pernil, served with beans, rice, salad, fried plantains & buttered arepa. i asked him which one i should order and without hesitation he said the el diablo , which is the carlton farms pork belly in a red chili maple sauce, topped with pickled onions, verde sauce and queso.
i had heard so much about this place i knew i was going to love it. what i didn’t expect was that the food was going to sing in my mouth.

amazing patio. apparently displaces been open for nine months which means that i must've driven by it 20 or so times and didn't notice it. i'm glad that a friend of mine was more observant and invited me and my wife to dinner there. it was excellent latin america food. and there's a wonderful fire pit and full bar outside it's amazing

their areapas, which they call venezuelan-style corn cakes are just that, they are kind of like a corn shortcake or scone, although they are gluten-free. i like them a lot, but i like the meat at teote even more. the el diablo (top of page) quickly became my favorite. pork belly that rendered perfectly and surrounded by a sweet/hot maple/red chili sauce and topped with pickled onion, cojito cheese and cilantro. it's succulent, sweet and hot all at the same time with the arepa providing a contrast bothwith its sweetness and its crumbly texture. and all that for under $7! the pernil (2nd from top) is also pork, but from shoulder, not belly and is cooked until tender and moist. it's not as spicy as the el diablo, but still packs a lot of flavor. it's topped with a cabbage salad along with a green sauce, the cojito and cilantro.

solid take on latin american peasant. peasant food at trendy prices. real tasty but people eat like this for much cheaper in venezuela i have to be sure.

had the barbecue shredded beef and the shredded pork alacarte. really not bad.

overall good experience. love the ambiance and decor of the place. however, the meat on the arepas was a little too sweet for my taste, and salsa not spicy enough.
