much more affordable than the $40+ we end up paying most of the time. and then, you’re just nicely full, not overstuffed from eating way too much food!

authentic and amazing ramen.

took my son and his roommates to dinner here on a friday night. super crowded, tough to get parking and we had a 45 minute wait for a table but the food was worth it. i have experienced the authentic excellence of truly good ramen in japan, hawaii and guam and tajima is right up there with them in quality. this entire area of kearney mesa is a little asian foodie paradise, if you can’t find a good meal here then you must be damn picky!

long wait , but worth it. the ramen is awesome. a very rich broth and the noodles are to die for. the parking is small , so parking is hard.

i've only been here once and it was my first real ramen experience. it was very good, the people were nice, but the parking was pretty bad. i'm definitely more of a pho person, but i'd go again.

tajima has been my go to spot for a few years now. i'm thankful for the friends that introduced me to this place. i don't quite remember m first experience here though. every time i crave something japanese that isn't sushi, this place is first on the list.

from orders of beef bowls, minchi katsu, karage, rice balls, or grilled mackerel, i have never been let down. the food is always consistent, served with the quickness, and fresh! they have happy hour which is one of my recent discoveries, the menu has some good items like takoyaki, karage, and flavored edemame. alcohol is 50% if i remember correctly. it's from 6-7 pm on weekdays.

during the weekend (friday and saturday night) they are open late, as in til 2 am late. this spot is a good substitute for your late night mexican food cravings. specially after being inebriated for a few hours.

place does get crowded during lunch and dinner hours. it's quite small and you usually have to write your name down on a waiting list. the longest we've waited was 15-20 minutes, so it isn't that bad. parking is limited since this place shares the lot with 4 other small asian restaurants.

good but crowded!. i ate here with an asian friend who had nothing but high praise for their ramen noodles. she was right - they are completely different (and a million times better) than the instant kind! went back last weekend and had another good meal.

it does get quite crowded but the service is fast and we didn't wait long at all for food, though we did have to wait about 20 minutes for a table and there was not enough parking. it seems to be a popular spot for the college-age crowd - it's hard to go wrong with cheap, tasty food - but they tend to be on the more boisterous side. overall the place is fairly small and a bit loud, but the food is worth it!

it's worth noting that other similar restaurants nearby were virtually empty, but there were plenty of people waiting outside tajima most of the night!

late night ramen, anyone?. i came here with some friends after a concert at house of blues because we'd heard it was open until 3 am. it was very busy and lively, and the place was almost packed. it does seem like a typical late-night joint, i'll admit that. the service was quick, though bordering on rushed. but who could blame them, with a nearly-full house? though they have many items, their specialty is ramen. guests are allowed to choose what flavor broth they would like, size, and whether they want thick or thin noodles. for those who don't want ramen or who don't like it, there are other dishes, like yakisoba and udon, and appetizers such as tanshio (beef tongue. it's good, i promise!) and scallop croquettes. they also have a variety of okonomiyaki. a great place to go to for late night meals or snacks.
