sweet refreshment. this is a great place to stop after your dinner at hiro sushi (on 90th) to freshen your palette with a citrus mojito gelato or a similarly creative wonderfulness. clean, fresh, creative and fun. enjoy!

i had a scoop of the salted butter caramel, and it was wonderful. not as good as jeni's (i think she uses more butter!) but really wonderful.

when you live in a city that gets a hot as phoenix and scottsdale do, great dessert places are a must. ice creams, soft serves, donuts ... i was quite impressed at the desserts i ate while i was in phoenix on my last trip! some of the flavors are very adventurous, some more than what i'm finding in boston. here are the five top spots for sweets and desserts in the phoenix area: 1. churn the list of great ice cream shops in phoenix goes on and on, but you must stop at churn. churn is known for their ice cream sandwiches, with deliciously gooey cookies and creamy, freshly churned ice creams. you can also get a scoop of ice cream and a half cookie as a topping. i had the vietnamese coffee and hangover helper (a whiskey ice cream) topped with half a salted chocolate chip cookie. you can get two different cookies for your ice cream sandwiches, too! 5223 n central ave phoenix, az 85012 2. rollover donuts (also at short leash hot dogs ) rollover donuts is brought to you by the same people behind short leash hot dogs and you can get the donuts at the hot dog location as well. they're most famous for the bear, which is a smoked gouda and bacon doughnut filled with peanut butter custard, topped with sweet bbq glaze and crackerjacks. their regular donuts are $2 while the "extra special" including the bear is only $2.50. well worth it! my favorite was the spicy thai coconut, filled with coconut thai chili custard in a coconut milk glaze and toasted coconuts. it's pretty light with a light kick from the chili! 10 w vernon ave phoenix, az 85003 3. nami i confess, i originally had skipped nami from my list because it's vegan, and i only ended up here because i was driving by and wanted an iced tea. but seriously, i'm so glad i tried it! it's not only the best vegan soft serve ever, it may well be one of the best soft serves i've had! the soft serve is is soy-based but it has a coconut flavor to it. i tried the coffee coco loco, which was topped with coffee syrup, mixed with cocoa

pure deliciousness!!! :-). this place was featured on food network's the best thing i ever ate, and for a great reason.. it is absolutely delectable. we tried the campfire s'mores sundae and the toffee batoffi sundae and each were the best ice cream sundae we've ever tasted. pure delight, and the friendly staff were very helpful in explaining everything about this natural ice cream joint and providing several samples of ice cream. :) just perfect.

memorable ice cream. best ice cream i have ever tasted. my favorite ice cream has always been mint chip. eating it at sweet republic is the first time i have ever had mint chip ice cream that has actually tasted like real mint out of the garden. my wife for the salted butter caramel and it was very flavorful. most ice cream parlors just seem like overpriced versions of what you would find in the grocery - sweet republic is definitely the exception - flavors are intense. wish they had one in roanoke!

sweet republic co-owner helen yung (brandon sullivan/bon appetit) while parts of the country have been under an evil hex of gelato and frozen yogurt over the past several years, it's refreshing to see good old-fashioned ice cream making quiet comeback. we

i first heard of sweet republic when alton brown named a dish there his favorite sweet he's ever eaten. that's big praise.the ice cream shop has these funky orange circles all over and about a dozen different artisan ice cream flavors.but what i really wanted was one of their specialties: the toffee banofi sundae.

first time here. great selection of flavors. love that everything is made fresh including homemade marshmallows. we even got some bottled dads root beers. loved that they have a wall of board games for customers to play while eating their delicious ice cream. my favorite was the mini hot fudge sundae.

speaking of frozen treats, sweet republic in scottsdale serves some delicious ice cream and sorbet. pictured: basil-lime sorbet on the left (with arizona basil) and honey blue cheese on the right (with arizona honey).

good ice cream, but not that good. just because you have some different flavors doesn't mean you should charge more for it. however, the blue cheese honey ice cream was very interestingly addictive. i will be back. 2/5

the experience at sweet republic was a good one. they had some creative flavors, and i appreciate their quality ingredients. overall, i was pleased, and really enjoyed the unique blue cheese honey flavor (the espresso was also very good). they also have an assortment of sundaes, as well as some baked goods. great spot!

heard about this place when i was doing food research for our trip. so glad we went and the toffee banofi sundae did not disappoint. everything is made inhouse and you can taste the passion of the owners. the sundae has a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream, a sliced banana, home made caramel sauce(lots), homemade toffee bark and whipcream inside a homemade waffle bowl. the waffle bowl melts in your mouth. they also have also sorts of bagged treats to but like homemade marshmallow, bacon brittle, toffee... you should certainly go

not so sweet. the sweet smell of ice cream does not cover up for the service that stinks! a one person staff with a nack for moving slow should not add multi-tasking to their resume. we just wanted to purchase a pre-packed pint, but instead we paid 15 minutes of our time standing and watching the clerk's ridiculous placement of nuts one by one on top of a sundae. we do not appreciate your lack of service and just because you flavor your ice cream with bacon or cantelope does not make you any better than a simple mint chip cone from baskin robbins where at least a few teenage scoopers eagerly wait to provide a quick cone and a smile.
