has great things going for it. sushi is a hard pick in colorado springs. even with roughly 40 restaurants that claim to serve it in this city, i think only 10 would stand out in anybody's mind. well sushi o sushi should be considered one of those.
their location leaves much to be desired. on one hand, they're close to the upper crust of the broadmoor region, while on the other, they're near the slums of fort carson. i talked to a waitress there and asked her about the dispersion of tips that she gets. you take a guess as to which class tips better.
but being in uniform that day myself, i decided to show them that we're not all cheapskates. although i was by myself and it was 2 in the afternoon (nobody else was there), i received world class service and even some friendly banter with the owner, my sushi chef. he was an incredibly nice guy who even went as far as to ensure each roll i got was gluten free, which was a kick i was going on to try and self-diagnose the cause of a recent outbreak of hives.
the rolls i received were wonderful, full of flavor everywhere without the need for sauces that might just cover up the natural flavors of the simple ingredients. i was happy to see he also had plenty of unique fish cuts and kinds that you normally wouldn't find in other sushi places. so i plan on getting some on one of my more adventurous days.
but all in all, i give this place two thumbs up for the cheerful, friendly service and the wonderful sushi. it's a stand-up place.
