great sushi. ate here last night. arrived at 5:30. friendly fast service. had sashimi / sushi roll combo. tasted great. smallplace(20seats)with a small patio. would eat again for sure.

reliableplacefor sushi. i've been ordering out from thisplacefor several years (before they renovated) and it's very good. considering that we don't have fresh fish in the ottawa region since we are not in vancouver or japan, this restaurant seems to preserve their fish well. i really enjoy their sushi and the various other things on the menu. it's very simple, healthy and delicious. a goodplaceto eat with no fuss but still in a nice décor. i will continue going there.

loved this place. went here on a date night with the wifey and quite enjoyed it. good food, not overly pricey (typical a la cart sushi pricing) but the quality was there. we got the shrimp and veggie combo tempura and the sushi and sashimi couples dinner for 2, which was just the perfect amount of sushi and came with miso soup. it’s a very smallplaceso make a reso or show up at off peak times. but i would definitely recommend, service and staff were great. check it out!

the food is fresh and tasty but portions are snack sized. expect to receive half portions compared to other sushi restaurants. left with a bill deserving a filling meal and left disappointed. for how many great sushi places there are in ottawa thisplaceis a miss unless you have money to burn!

great rolls and always something creative. sometimes with lobster. nice smallplaceat the foot of the arch in chinatown. nice staff. some more variety in drinks would be good but the sushi is superb.

our favourite sushiplacein ottawa. the sashimi is incredibly fresh and tasty, and the rolls are delicious. wouldn't give this as high a rating in toronto or vancouver, but it's a 4.5 in ottawa.

good sushi. my bf and i had dinner here on a thursday night. theplaceis quite small so i would recommend making reservations. the decor is nice. we had the vegetable tempura appetizer which was good and not greasy (came with one of each: bean, carrot, zucchini, egg plant, sweet potato and broccoli). i liked that they offer a lot of sushi/sashimi combos on their menu, which are all decently priced. also, all their combos come with a choice of miso soup or salad. we had the tuna luau and the salmon celebration. the fish was fresh. i personally really enjoyed the spicy tuna, although it was very peppery. unlike other reviewers, we enjoyed the music (not sure if they changed it since). a very good experience overall. also of note, we ordered beer and the waitress' pour was horrible. someone should really teach her how to pour a beer without excessive foaming.

this is my 'go to'placewhen my friends are craving sushi. i it's much better than the sushi in byward market, where i used to go. kinki sushi rice lacks flavor, and fish is sometimes unfresh. wasabi sushi rolls are too large and can't be consumed in one bite, and others are premade and packaged. sushi 88 fish is almost always fresh, the rolls are yummy and fit in my mouth, and the mood of the restaurant is quiet except for 'nujabes' instrumentals playing in the background. it's a greatplaceto impress on a first date, or special occasions. the prices are also cheaper than what you can get in the market, that's also a plus. happy eating !

greatplacefor sushi. there are many sushi restaurants in ottawa but not many of them are actually good. sushi 88 is good. very tasty, fresh and service is good too. great gem for chinatown.

the miso soup was good, not overly salty like other places i've been to. the prawn tempura was limp and soggy, definitely not worth the price. the kiwi roll was a miss. it might work if there is a sauce to pull the flavours together. the red pepper roll was boring. the 88 roll was the only roll we enjoyed. will give thisplaceanother chance.

best sushi in ottawa. people are always talking about how wasabi is the bestplacefor sushi....wrong!!!!! sushi 88 is hands down the bestplacefor sushi in ottawa and is worth the 15 minute drive to china town to hit them up for some great eat in or take out sushi.
place isn’t very big so be warned they can be very busy so sometimes take out would be the way to go.
fish is super tasty, staff are good and polite sometimes a little slow because they typically only have 1 server even on busy nights.
i will always hit thisplaceup for sushi best in town.

slow on weeknights, too. i went there on a weeknight, theplacewas half-full but the service was exceptionally slow, including the time it took for the server to take our orders. i had to flag her down.

the food is nothing special, and certainly not worth the wait.

best overall sushi in ottawa. there are more fancy sushi places in ottawa, more expensive ones, more hyped ones, and more affordable ones, but for overall taste, quality, creativity, and a committment to consistency, sushi 88 is the best sushiplacein ottawa.

you could probably get slightly better sushi at suisha gardens, but it doesn't have the same feel or cool specials, and is certainly more expensive.

this is one of the few sushi restau­rants where i wouldn’t mind eat­ing raw fish: theplaceis spot­less and the ingre­di­ents are con­sis­tently fresh. i like the fact the menu clearly describes the sushi, and even offers a “new­bie spe­cial” or a “i like my sushi cooked”.

fair price - good sushi. thisplaceis good. sake is decently priced and the sushi is fresh. the service is polite and professional. not cheap sushi so you pay a little more, but it's worth it. still a good value.
