wow, the other reviews are correct. i'm only in town for a couple of days and didn't feel like eating the normal fare. found pollo charcoal on urbanspoon so thought i would try it. as i walked up smoke was bellowing out from the roof exhaust and you immediately confirm the scent of smoked chicken. the inside is nothing special, just a cheap walk up cafeteria style counter and some tables to sit and eat. the food is what makes this place shine. i ordered the 1/2 chicken, rice & beans, and the plantains. the price was $11.99. i paid extra for the black beans. i took mine to go. a half mile walk back to my hotel and the food was still hot. the smell was awesome so after pouring the beans over the rice i dove into the chicken. the flavor was amazing with a strong citrus, paprika and smoked flavor. the chicken was very moist and easily fell off the bone. the flavor was rich throughout each bite. the rice was cooked perfectly. the black beans were good but not what i hoped for. theplantainswere cooked perfectly and what you would expect with this type of food. i am from miami and have been gone from there for four years now. this is the closest i have come to tasting the tropics. i highly recommend super pollo charcoal. i don't know if there is better in the area as some have said, but for me, i'll stick with spc.
