friendly service, super fun atmosphere. here's one thing that really disappointed me: i asked if the icecream is house made. i was informed that the icecream is all dryer's brand. there's not really anything wrong with that, but at a shop that specializes in icecream sundaes, i'd really expect them to make their own. i almost left when i heard that it was generic grocery store brand. i decided to stay and order the top hat sundae. this is a sundae with cream puff pasty on the top and bottom. it was really good. the pastry had a nice texture and the employee was very generous with the hot fudge. if you want a fun place to enjoy a pretty good sundae, this is your place. if you want amazing homemade icecream, it's not. i'd probably come again.

sooooooooooooo cute! i'm so glad we had a chance to stop in here on our vacation. the pie people, get the apple pie it is so delicious. my partner ordered the pie and i ended up stealing most of it off him haha. 
i ordered a small sundae mint chocolate chip with peanut butter sauce (yup i'm a wierdo) it was so good. just the right size so as not to send me into sugar overload but enough to fill my sugar craving for the day. the decor is absolutely adorable and pinkkk, a great spot to take some cute photos with friends. would be quite a cool place for the start of a hens night or baby shower.

this place is filthy!. dirty,sticky floors, wobbly chairs and a visibly dirty grimy entrance door almost made me turn around and leave. this place needs a god professional cleaning. won't go back.

horrible service. title pretty much sums it up. ordered a luscious strawberry shake, got about 12oz of melted ice-cream and hot carmel sauce; they forgot the whip cream, nuts, and was just a gross mess. the manger was a moron and charged my card with auth and argued about the food. save your self the hassle, theres better places; that actually value the customer.

like a previous review stated, the atmosphere is pretty cool but the ice cream is nothing great. there is better ice cream back in my hometown of cincinnati but the atmosphere is very cool being in ole town scottsdale. worth the trip!

nice atmosphere, normal sundaes. the sugar bowl is a scottsdale institution. the ice cream sundaes were good, but nothing spectacular. what makes the place special is the style of it, evoking your typical 1950’s ice cream parlor.

service could be a lot more efficient and it would be nice if they didn’t run out of important staples. but nice overall.

childhood favorite. i've been coming here since i was a little boy. i miss the old ice cream palors. this place and farrell's were childhood memories of mine and i'm glad sugar bowl is still in existence. sugar bowl opened in 1958. it still has the old pink decor and the menu hasn't changed much over the years. family circus was a favorite comic of mine growing up and they still keep it as a theme. i order a banana split just like i did as a child every time i come here.

the marshmallow, fudge, and walnut concoction on my creamed walnut fudge sundae is a gooey delight. and the french vanilla ice cream -- the foundation for many of their sundaes -- is smooth, rich and heavenly. though the bubble gum pink interior is like the love child of barbie's dream house & a fake '50s diner, the service you'll find inside is swift and friendly. the sundae portions are fairly generous so save room for this place or plan to share!

the sugar bowl is a fixture of old town scottsdale. the coolest thing about it is the pink exterior, though.

first off, the interior isn't the cleanest place in the world. i guess that could add to its charm, but i just found it gross. you would hope that the food would make up for it, but it doesn't.

the only thing worth ordering on the entire menu is the buster brown sundae. and i paid over four bucks for it. for that price, i should get more ice cream and marshmallow sauce.

i tried a sandwich here once. judging by the taste, it was almost as old as the sugar bowl itself. never again.

oh, and the service is a joke. it took them almost a half an hour for the sandwich to come out. at least when they made the sundae, it came to my table soon.

so, if you want to go here, do it just for dessert. but there are other, better places in scottsdale.

it might be possible to walk into the sugar bowl in scottsdale, az, in a bad mood, but it would take some real effort to leave that way. before walking through the front doors, the sugar bowl will cheer you up with its bubblegum pink facade and multi-colored sign. from the outside, the sugar bowl could be taken for an old time carnival arcade, the kind you find on beach-front boardwalks that are filled wi

unhappy customer. just talked to the owner of suger bowl told him that i was not served by his staff for lunch sunday 10-24-2010 @ 11:30 or so. i waited for about 10 minutes after being sat down by a nice host. during the 10 minutes i was there not one waitress even so much as looked at me. i'm really not a bad looking guy lived here all my life and have been in the sugar bowl many times without a problem i have a cut on my forhead and a black eye from surgery but still am not happy about the service. that shood have nothing to do with it. unfortunatly they have been known to have bad service from time to time if you have bad service, make sure you talk to the owner and he will really do nothing for you as i called him on the phone and found out so beware!!!!!!!!!!!!

family fun at the sugar bowl. we loved it here, the kids especailly! the sugar bowl has a nice old-fashioned feel, an ice cream parlor in old scottsdale. what beats a sundae on a sunny day?! one with lots of options & that is the just the thing the sugar bowl offers. we really liked the family circus cartoons decorating the walls of the sugar bowl, work by bill keane (he must enjoy the sugar bowl, too). we do think it could be cleaner though.
