spice island - crowne plaza dubai deira

it has been 13 years since i last visited spice island to which i had great memories.
then i decided to share this to my very good friend who visited dubai for a couple of days.
unfortunately, we were both very disappointed of the way the service staff had treated us. first of all, i made a booking for a table for two at 2100h. since we were not escorted to any seat, i gave myself the liberty to seat ourselves. then came the server, named jenny, filipino, who impolitely asked me if i belonged to any group or if i am checked in as a guest in crowne plaza hotel. simply because she had an intention to seat an african lady who wants to take the table where i am already at.
mind you, not even a good evening, excuse me, a welcome greet or respect from jenny beforehand. yet, that hall was empty so meaning, plenty of tables to occupy.
then, my friend went to tempt herself for some sliced fruits. when she went over and asked the server by the counter, a nepalese male, i suppose, he boldy was handing over my friend a sliced half of the whole water melon with his bare hands!!! and was even, proud and sensing it was a good joke to do that to their guests!!!
when i stood up and told him off, that was the time he wore on some disposable gloves. what a total disgrace.
i am a flight attendant with emirates for 15 years, joined a cruise ship for a year, a food handler for over two decades. therefore, i know how this work.
such a pity, but never will i ever endorse your restaurant to anyone whom i will come accross with.

superb buffet with several options including teppanyaki, regular and premier beverages options makes it just right kind of place to entertain your friends and corporate clients. i have been a regular since 1998 and will endorse the quality blindfolded. awesome and amazing place to enjoy and relax !! must visit !!!

if you want to say you have been dining in 5 star hotel, go there. if you want to enjoy in delicious food, this restaurant should not be considered as a right place.
if you want to see smiling faces, visit it. employees deserve better rate but there is shortage of staff so they aren’t able to serve you on a proper way.
however, i’ve been eating better food for less money. trip advisor rate did not justify total review marks this time.

i loved every single thing of it. though the dinner is a bit expensive, it's worth every dirham. the roasted lamb was the bomb, and the thai seafood curry. the dessert selection makes it even more exciting. the juices were heaven. the japanese section was perfection. i did not notice an italian section though, would've been exciting to have some pizza, pasta to get along with the salad. i would recommend this to friends definitely!

been there couple of times in group & spice island has never failed my taste buds. my friends and i have always had a great time dining here.  i always enjoy the salad and asian food sections. of course who would say no to a spicy grilled lobster and prawns paired with stir fry mixed veggies. don't forget the sushi, sashimi and maki, too. as for the dessert, i can have anything i want. will definitely keep coming back.

had gone for iftar the place was fully packed it was wide spread buffet but the food was not that great they didn’t have enough option of kebab nor fish in fish they had only sushi we tried shawarma it was done super spicy couldn’t have second bite and in maincourse was butterchicken it was very sweet the only thing i like was mandi rice serve with whole leg of mutton which was yumm and there is one live counter for tapyenki chinese but the cue was so long had to wait quite long but the taste was good so overall experience on food was ok nothing great would not want to come next time and give try

truly a traditional feast! never fails to make my stomach happy. 😊 every year i go for their iftar buffet and it's always worth every dirham. kind portions, various options, oriental choices and amazing sweets! will go back again soon 😁

went for dinner buffet. wide selection of alcohol. good food especially the grilled. chef are kind to prepare sushi and sashimi if you request (when its not available anymore on the buffet). variety of food selection. clean and very private.

we had been for dinner yesterday at 9 nd it was our anniversary. i had reserved a table also. when we entered restaurant there was no one in the entrance to guide. we went inside nd found most of the tables not cleaned. there were few bearers walking here nd there who were least interested in helping us find a table. we caught hold of one staff nd after almost 10 min of waiting we got a table. there was no explanation on the packages they had. to our surprise we were told that they didnt have cocktails. the main course was not that great. there was nothing in particular we liked. desserts were good. altogether it was not a pleasant experience especially the attitude of the staff and not worth the spent.

visited the restaurant on a weekend for iftar and the place was packed. the iftar package was affordable and the food was fine . however the arrangement was not very pleasing. probably it was because that day it was too crowded that we found it difficult to even serve the food. they have wide variety of dishes from chinese to indian to arabic to japanese cuisines. the chinese food and the kebabs really stood out from the rest o f the cuisines. i will definitely go back to try their brunch. staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

went for iftar and the overall experience from the appearance of the restaurant to the food/drinks was great..they have a great variety of dishes with different cuisines including vegetarian options.

tried this place with a bunch of friends. we got a good closed area seating for ourselves.

the food was pretty good with variety of stuff.

the service was very good with attentive and friendly staff.

the deserts were amazing too.
a must try.

this is our favorite place for a night long drinks with unlimited house beverages and food. been here for so many instances with friends and spice island never disappoint.
