good allergy free german food. my parents and i have come here several times through the years we have lived in the bay area. but, now that i have food allergies this place has become my go to because the menu is clearly marked on what options are gluten, dairy, and egg free. my one disappointment was that the portions weren't as hearty as other german restaurant places in the bay area.

i loved speisekammer.  i go to speisekammer every year on new year's eve.  i don't eat meat very often and i am very picky about meat dishes but i love them here.  i always get the salmon which is amazing.  food is delicious and the restaurant has a warm and inviting feel.  service was great!  i will be back.

my favorite thing on the menu so far was the semmelknödel mit pilzrahmsoße bread dumpling made with bacon served in our savory mushroom sauce, i already want to go back for more. make a reservation ahead of time if you're going on a weekend or for dinner.

meh.... nothing truly horrible, just not worth the time or money for the mediocre food, snobbish service, and warehouse like environment.. the "italian colors" of bay area german cuisine.

a local favorite for myself, friends and family. very casual atmosphere. a great place for a date or group. their food is amazing as well! we all agree that their vast array of beers and other libations are just what the doctor ordered after a long week. they also have live entertainment-just check their website and or wal in for a list! enjoy!!!

best bay area german food. if you enjoy german food or if you would like to get a taste of what it is like speisekammer is a good place to start. good food and friendly staff. i have been going here for a few years. my german employer was putting on an oktoberfest celebration and our activities committee hired them to cater the event for over 400 employees. needless to say i loved the food!

fun and casual place to go with just a few or a group. many of my german friends and colleagues go here.
for me german food is comfort food! nuremberg sausages are one of my favorites. i discovered these tasty little sausages while in germany. they are not easy to find and a great dish. the sauerkraut is the best i have ever tasted and goes so well with the nuremberg sausages. potato pancakes are excellent and another one of my favorites.

spatzel main dish is outstanding and so hard to pass up, lots of cheese and sautéed onions, it's like the german version of mac and cheese only better. the wiener schnitzel you can't find better, it is cooked just right and is great with a squeeze of lemon and you are set! the carrot, beet and cucumber salad that comes with your main dish is very fresh and i could eat it all by it's self.

do not eat here. this must be the worst place i have ever experienced in my life. i would know since i have lived in san francisco and alameda my entire life. not only was the service horrible the food was worse. they tried to make excuses and then sent my husband home with a dry slab of meat he had to pay for. the servers are rude; the management has no clue what really goes on in there own establishment. then they charged me for bad food and made excuses by blaming drunk customers???
go to suppenkuche, 525 laguna st, san francisco - (415) 252-9289. the food is better, they are professional and the services are excellent! that is if you want a true german experience.

good german food. i ate here a couple of days ago with a co-worker. i had the curry wurst and a hefeweisen. it was pretty good. i'd probably gets the brats without the curry sauce next time though. the menu seemed pretty authentic and it had a nice atmosphere inside.

definitely not a good value for what you get. food was fine but nothing special. for food that was just ok, one does not expect to pay top dollar. i won't go back.

good times. i was amazed at the tenderness of my wild bore. the staff was pleasant. the portion sizes were perfect! i cleaned my plate and split a dessert and when i got into the car... there was no food coma! (that's with three beers on top of all that). i was thrilled. great experience. their cherry bread pudding is incredible. i love bread pudding and hate baked raisins so this was a great menu item, and when it got to the table, i had trouble splitting it with my friend (as planned), it was too good to share!
