good space for agoodenglish! great casual dining space - must add on your list of brunch places. many a fun sunday spent withgoodfriends.

the service was rude and pushy!
i went with friends for brunch. the food wasgoodbut not cheap. it is clear that once we were done eating, the waitress wanted us to leave. she wanted us to pay right after our we took the last bite from our plates.
at one point, she took out our glasses of water and the bottle of water even though they were not empty and without asking us if we were done drinking.
we found it very rude.
we asked for another bottle of water and she refused. she had the nerve to tell us the exact amount of time we had stayed at the table after we were done eating!
we then asked her to talk with the manager. she pretended falsly that she was the manager.
she told us that she would only bring back our glasses and our bottle of water that she took without permission if we would order food or drinks again. we found it so rude!
after fighting with the waitress, we had no other choice to tell her that we wanted to see the menu to get our glasses and bottle of water back.
after that, she went to get the manager who came to speak with us.
the manager never apologized for her employee and told us that the waitress was one of her best employee. this means that she agreed with her!
because there is a line up and the restaurant is popular, this is not an excuse to rush out you clients after there are just done eating to serve other customers!
we were offended and will never go back again!

it's good. just good. brunch food isgoodand not too copious, but the service is rushed and a little bit sloppy. pricing is pretty fair. if you're looking for a lazy sunday morning brunch this isn't it- not only do you need to arrive before 10:30 to ensure you aren't waiting forever for a table, but the servers rush you out. reservations only taken for 10 am, they keep your table for 15 minutes and ask you to be done in an hour and a half. reasonable time period to eat in but just annoying. overall just okay, not particularly exceptional though.

very nice place for an evening with friends? the drinks aregoodand the food is very tasty and fresh, try their burger made with fresh ground beef and it is just tender and amazing ! the couch is a nice touch if you want to relax and enjoy your evening !

great brunch, great staff. arrived around noon and waited about 15 minutes.goodsmall menu. totally delcious steak and eggs and really want to try other things on the menu.

i didn't want to waste away any valuable time for my short weekend trip, so i searched hard for agoodbrunch place that takes reservation so we didn't have to line up. luckily for me, i found the the sparrow! parking was also free before 1 pm, which was a bonus for us. some drinks to start while waiting for our food- apple mimosa ($5) and homemade lemonade ($3). i had serious dish envy when i saw my friend's blackstone benedict ($15)- poached eggs, bacon, wilted greens and tomato on root vegetable latkes, herb hollandaise and tater tots. i was able to steal a few bites and it was quite delicious, albeit slightly under-seasoned.

just finished eating at sparrow and had a great time! i must say that this is the best restaurant in montreal to attend while high on acid.

my dining partner and i dropped two tabs of lsd right before entering the bar. it's probably agoodthing that the waitress took a half hour to come to our table as by that point we were tripping balls. i ordered a st ambroise oatmeal stout and my friend ordered a varietal of scotch. it was while he was ordering that i noticed that the flowery print on her shirt seemed to meld into the extravagant wallpaper (which also featured sounds of tw rainforest and real bird calls).

for an entree, i ordered the blt and she got the hamburger. my blt was great and the overflowing boar bacon juice moisturizer my hands nicely. my dining partner could not approach her burger as they kept returning it too rare (she swears that the patty was pulsating and full of blood, perhaps still alive).

after we finished, we waited for what seeme like forever before we got the bill. to our amazing surprise, the bill had been there the whole time and the waitress abruptly asked us to settle up. i was simply having too great a time with the ceiling fans and over-the-top wall paper! sparrow rules, as does lsd.

i got pretty confused while trying to sort out the bills in my wallet as the colors seemed to bleed together and almost speak to me... but our waitress was so helpful with the math!

i highly recommend this restaurant for anyone high on acid!

most horrible dinner ever eaten. this meal was everything but what it advertised to be. it was a melting pot of all the scrap left in the fridge. the fish was saumured or smoked and then was fried in a pan, the rice was mush with indian style spices and what was supposed to be creamy spinah was a mix of coleslaw and some other vegetable that couldn't be identified... disgusting. even if i was really hungry, i didn't eat half the plate.
the calamari batter was notgoodeither, too much of it, crumbly and not crisp.
staff and ambiance was good, but it seems the old kitchen crew really only left the dishwasher guy to handle the whole kitchen when they all moved to open up the lawrence... too bad.

our meal at the sparrow was by no means groundbreaking, but it wasgoodand reasonably priced. service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing and although the wait for a table took a little while, our food was prepared and served pretty rapidly. our breakfast left us feeling as though it would be worth a second visit but since we live a little out of the way its doubtful that we would make the trip to the plateau specifically with this destination in mind. a more likely scenario would be returning if we were already in the neighborhood. the sparrow also offers a dinner service that might be worth trying sometime in the future.
