one of the best burgers in town. unfortunately, the olive oil they use, can be any average quality vegetable oil, except a reasonable quality olive oil, necessary to write, that service shuold be better, my server was nothing else than a bad educated old lady. but i will be back to eat the burger with a good american red wine.

good food and a great atmosphere. it's rare when a visionary in what was a rundown area succedes. the salads are great, main courses really good, and the drinks are strong.

gorgonzola fries and gnocchi - so delicious. i have been to soyka a number of times, and i keep coming back. the alleyway, if that's what it's called, on the north side of the restaurant provides a nice private dining experience, but you can also eat at the bar and in the main dining area. during my most recent experience my friend's 5 year-old girl spilled her sprite all over the floor and her jacket. the waiter not only cleaned up the spill, but carefully cleaned her jacket for her. with good customer service like this, and delicious gnocchi, who could resist?

great restaurant in the design district. after reading all the reviews about soyka we were a littlle wary about visiting this restaurant...but were pleasantly surprised. the crowd is varied from people in their twenties upto sixties. the decor is industrial and looks alright. there was music in the background, but not too loud and we could carry out a conversation. there were plasma screen tvs at the bar showing a football game but were not loud or obtrusive in any manner. this is not a sports bar by any means. the service was very good. the best part was the food. everything we ordered including the tuna tartare, skirted steak, pasta bolognese all the way to desert...brownie ala mode, were excellent. price wise was reasonable pretty much throughout the menu. parking is by free valet and secure. i recommend this restaurant highly. the brunch menu looks good too!

stuck up, pretentious, snobbish.. the one and only time visiting soyka left me with a very bad taste in my mouth. after sitting down for dinner on a very slow night i was excited to see what made this restaurant such a hot spot. i orderd a salad, and one of their burgers. while eating the salad i managed to bite into something that was clearly not supposed to be in the salad. i discovered that it was a foil lid from something which i had no idea. after asking the waiter about what on earth i had just eaten he proceded to tell me that he would have to ask the manager. 15 minutes later the manager finally shows up and says "is there somehting wrong with your food?". i explained the situation and asked what it was that i had bit into. the manager then rudly told me that he did not know and that he would have to go and find out. well 15 minutes later he returns and explains that it was the lid for a food jar. normally i would have excused the situation had it been handled correctly but the entire staff that night seemed perfectly content on not attending to the needs of their customers. this is one restaurant that i will never return to.
