delicious , but a bit snooty. the meal was great! severalmenuchoices. the waiter was excellent, however the hottests were very snooty! they refused to seat our party because two of us weren't present at that moment. when the full party arrived, we notified the hostest that all 6 were present, and they didn't even acknowledge we were speaking. they proceeded greet to seat a party of two that came in afterwards. we let the hostest know again that the full party arrived, she replied with "i know, and we are working on it". aside from that, we thoroughly enjoyed the meal!

impressed at soho south cafe. we drove into savannah from bluffton, sc for dinner at soho south cafe. what a delightful surprise we enjoyed! greeted warmly at the door by the hostess [we had reservations] we were ushered into a large urban chic atmosphere that was both trendy and inviting.

after looking over the unique cocktail options, several of us ordered the ‘savannah smash’ - a refreshing summery start to our dining. our waitress was attentive without being officious and had helpful suggestions about the drinks menu, the specials andmenudinner selections.

we began with the flatbread and shrimp hors d'oeuvres which were robustly flavored and truly tasty. portions were great for sharing and the pacing of the food service was conducive to a festive night out.

for our main meals, we ordered stuffed chicken breast, short ribs, wreck fish - the evening special - and a vegetarian dish featuring grilled halloumi cheese [a semi-hard, unripened brined cheese popular in the middle east] with roasted red peppers and chickpeas.

the plates were artistically arranged and portions were generous. after checking to ensure that ‘first bites’ were positive our waitress retreated to allow us to enjoy the food.

enjoy we did; the flavors were assertive demonstrating a sure hand in the kitchen. short ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, stuffed chicken was perfect for our least adventuresome eater, wreck fish was mild and complemented by fresh veggies and mushroom risotto. the halloumi dish was declared “amazing” and replete with middle eastern seasonings.

we are looking forward to returning to sample other offerings on the menu.

soho south cafe is an adorable restaurant "where food is an art". it is an art gallery and restaurant in one, and the furniture is extremely eclectic, kind of like a vintage/antique warehouse feel. it has delicious food, and is always worth the wait to get seated.

lc and i have a habit of choosing the exact same thing off a restaurant'smenu(individually, without discussion!) and it makes us laugh every time we do. this is the third time i've eaten at soho with her, and both got the delicious modern grilled cheese & tomato basil bisque soup. grilled cheese? at a restaurant? heck yes. this grilled cheese has smoked gouda, cheddar, gruyere, and pimiento aioli, all melted together on sourdough bread. dip it in the soup, and you're in cheese heaven... why have one cheese when you can have a plethora?

i wish i could take credit for inventing these... they're amazing! kayla went to brunch at soho south cafe in downtown savannah a few weeks ago and has raved about their monte cristo sandwich ever since. we went there for hannah's birthday. they each ordered one that day. the traditional monte cristo is usually coated with batter, then deep fried. let me just say ... bleh! i'm not a fan. at soho, they make french toast, then create the griddled sandwich. the result is crispy, not greasy. soho is very creative and comes up with twists on traditional stuff. their version of grilled cheese and tomato soup makes me want to sing, but everyone will be extremely glad that i don't. this is themenudescription... modern grilled cheese & tomato soup combo: smoked gouda, cheddar, gruyere, and pimiento aioli on sourdough bread with a bowl of our famous tomato basil bisque. when we were planning our brunch menu, kayla requested the soho monte cristo... i didn't have the real recipe, but figured we
