good: food is southern heaven with trendy chic. yuppies and old timers eat here. more yuppies.

bad:
the bad is that i live 5 hours from here and they need a few more southern specialties on the menu
ugly: my waistline and gravy stains on shirt

was super excited to lunch at the new soho, but sadly they no longer so call aheads for lunch. simply cannot spend my lunch hour waiting in line. looking like the downtown working girl lunch options just got a bit narrower.

i wish i could take credit for inventing these... they're amazing! kayla went to brunch at soho south cafe in downtown savannah a few weeks ago and has raved about their monte cristo sandwich ever since. we went there for hannah's birthday. they each ordered one that day. the traditional monte cristo is usually coated with batter, then deep fried. let me just say ... bleh! i'm not a fan. at soho, they make french toast, then create the griddled sandwich. the result is crispy, not greasy. soho is very creative and comes up with twists on traditional stuff. their version of grilled cheese and tomato soup makes me want to sing, but everyone will be extremely glad that i don't. this is the menu description... modern grilled cheese & tomato soup combo: smoked gouda, cheddar, gruyere, and pimiento aioli on sourdough bread with a bowl of our famous tomato basil bisque. when we were planning our brunch menu, kayla requested the soho monte cristo... i didn't have the real recipe, but figured we

the omelets were really great and cooked very nicely. i didn't care for the home fries much. they aren't cubed and they are baked rather than fried. i really wished i had gotten the grits because melanie really loved hers. we both had flashbacks of park's edge when we tried the sausage gravy. while it wasn't quite as spicy as park's edge chicken sausage gravy, which melanie really enjoyed, this was a strong contender to that and we were really blown away by it. you cannot go there and not order the sausage gravy. we even poured it over our omelets. it was dreamy (but a cardiologist's nightmare). finally, we can't end this review without mentioning the spectacular service given to us by bonnie jean, our server. she was really, really a sweet girl and took such great care of us. you know when someone has a heart for this business when even under the pressure of a busy rush they still take the time to simply be nice. thanks, bonnie jean, you are a wonderful person! we love to consider sav

i was depressed, cranky, and i wanted a ketchup meal. comfort food for the discomfited. instead, i was going to a cafe to meet a guy who probably wanted to be anywhere but there--even worse than me--and where the ketchup doesn't come in a bottle but in a
