siegfried's is an fantastic german restaurant that offers a huge menu of traditional german entrees, sides and a great "build your own sandwich" option.

authentic german fare. it doesn't happen a lot, but when i need a brat and sauerkraut i have to go downtown to siegfried's. i don't know how people eat that costco hotdog. convenience isn't everything guys, we have taste buds too.

good food, but rude, eastern european type attitude employees.

tried and true. this place is great. affordable and large portions. escpecially love the schnitzel, goulash, and sauerkraut (fairly mild and warm).

love the food.... great food!! very well prepared... the women behind the counter leave something to be desired though. they are afraid their faces will crack if they dared smile. not one of them is german although they speak german with a bosnian accent. maybe that is why they are so unhappy..ha.. i won't let that stop me from going, as i have said the food is very good. the women need to take some lessons in customer service.

awesome. the best german i've had in a long time especially for the price! better than the bohemien which i also thoroughly enjoyed.the brautwurst and shnitzel are great. the rolls and potato variations are great compliments to your meal. i took home some rhothkhol(red saurkraut) for my wife who loved it.

absolutely the best!. siegfried's is the best german food in salt lake. excellent, high quality and very tasty. best german food i have had since i returned from germany. great customer service and any of them will make recommendations if needed. one cannot do better than siegfried's in salt lake.

yummy. brats and warm potato salad are great. cool downtown atmosphere. lines can be long but they seem to be pretty quick about slinging the food. prices are reasonable as well.

true to germany. the best sausages in town second to none. great deli meat items and authentic. i don't go there for the atmosphere, i go there for the food. when i have relatives in town, they always request siegfrieds.

if it's german you want...& you're downtown. siegfried's deli is pretty much your only choice. the deserts are very, very good, the location one of the best and easiest to get to. parking is acceptable, but difficult. this place however needs someone with expertise to come in and advise them on how to turn it into a real eating experience. if you like long lines, waiting, crowded and at times uncleaned tables, extremely unfriendly german woman, cafeteria style food, limited choices (and be very careful not to request anything they are not slinging that day,) a slower than ever checkout system--with a full team of snappy cashiers, just to get some german food then this is your place. let's just say endure has to be your frame of mind to even go into this place. german food at times becomes my last choice because of all the limitations one encounters whenever and for any meal you go to siegfried's. it was at one time (in it's old location very different) either that, or the smaller space made it seem more mom and pop. now it's pretty much mckruger's with eva braun at every turn.

top within downtown???. no thanks - deutsche food??? i surprised to find this top on the list - okay for lunch, but top downtown???

black forest cherry delight!. all of the german fare - esp the red cabbage! - is scrumptuous. and for real heaven-on-earth take a slice of the schwartzwaelder kirschtorte...

truly good german food. our new son-in-law took us here when we requested "real german food" and he hit the nail on the head! atmosphere is a combination of cafe, old corner grocery (european style) and hometown eatery - very enjoyable.

the price range was very good (lunch of a meat and two sides was about $7) and there was a wide variety to choose from. portions were generous. if you don't want a sit down
meal there is a very generous cold cut counter with almost anything you might wish for.

after 7 years of living in southern germany and living in an area where there is no good german food i recommend you come often and work your way through the menu! our party had 4 different meals and all were outstanding.

after the meal we had an enjoyable time browsing the shelves, which were stocked with everything from basics to box mixes, snacks and goodies. many are hard to find anywhere else.

just to make sure this was the "real deal" we also ordered three different desserts to go :-) and they all withstood the "taste test"!

if you have lived in germany and want to give your taste buds a chance to step back in time drop in and enjoy as we did.

an excellent place for pre theatre bratwurst!
