shamiana - taj jumeriah lake towers

visited this place for early morning breakfast , looking at the menu ordered for their breakfast platter which had hash browns , chicken sausage , sautéed mushrooms, turkey bacon along with omelette it was nice not at all . bakers basket was also good , muesli was nice as well .staffpeople were friendly and quick in service as well .

ordered their veg thali and thai green curry. the food was really good and the portions very decent. great service, thestaffwere really nice and would always come to our table to check if we enjoyed the food and if we needed anything. kudos to ashraf who was particularly attentive and delivered a great service 😃 would definitely come back!

we went on the day of eid for the eid thali. we were seated by the maitre’d. once seated nobody checked on us. finally we flagged a server and informed them to bring us the thali. another half an hour passed and nothing arrived. we were told they have suddenly had many orders of thali and therefore we need to wait. till than we were only served papad. they forgot to bring us our welcome drink for the thali also. finally the food arrives. everything was delicious to be honest. we asked for repeat of our starters. again it was a long wait. when the starters arrived they forgot the prawn. my wife who was having the veg thali got chicken tikka instead of the paneer tikka that she had asked for. we asked for some more main course and they got the main course and forgot the breads to go along with the main course. desert only gajar halwa was served and they didn’t have rasmalai as per the thali menu.

in short management was an absolute disaster at the restaurant and they had another complaint from another table close by which they were resolving and hence completely ignored everybody else.

i spoke to mr kumaran rajendran and informed him that we are planning to have a small gathering for my daughters birthday on 15 august. he informed he will revert back later in the day but 2 days later i have still not got any information that i requested. i guess this sums everything up.

restaurant has lot of potential but only the brand taj is not enough. they probably have got freshstafffrom india and have not provided them any training. feel sorry for them since they seemed clueless as things were falling apart.

it’s a real shame though because the food was delicious and with improved service we would have really enjoyed our meal.

only other positive would be the chef who came for the cupcake making for my daughter. she was happy and enjoyed her cupcake. the extra star is for his effort.

tried the friday brunch at shamiana recently with a lot of high expectations. definitely enjoyed their hospitality,warmth, excellent service and quality food.

the friday brunch, although not as elaborate a fare as a lot of restaurants in uae had a reasonably well curated menu. appetizers were served at the table comprising of succulent prawns, tandoori salmon, lamb seekh and chicken reshmi kebab. they also had a bhel counter which had delicious bhel, pani puri etc.

of course there was, soup, a variety of salads, vegetarian and non vegetarian offerings of curries and rice. one of the best indian foods i've had in a very long time which has been true to taste. eating at shamiana brought back memories of eating true desi food from bombay!

the dessert counter was average with regular pastries. they could have perhaps added some more indian offerings.

overall the whole experience was made pleasant by thestaffwhich was ever so courteous and extremely attentive. a very positive dining experience,which of course is expected from the taj group.
