we went on the day of eid for the eid thali. we were seated by the maitre’d. once seated nobody checked on us. finally we flagged a server and informed them to bring us the thali. another half an hour passed and nothing arrived. we were told they have suddenly had many orders of thali and therefore we need to wait. till than we were only served papad. they forgot to bring us our welcome drink for the thali also. finally the food arrives. everything was delicious to be honest. we asked for repeat of our starters. again it was a long wait. when the starters arrived they forgot the prawn. my wife who was having the veg thali got chicken tikka instead of the paneer tikka that she had asked for. we asked for some more main course and they got the main course and forgot the breads to go along with the main course. desert only gajar halwa was served and they didn’t have rasmalai as per the thali menu.

in short management was an absolute disaster at therestaurantand they had another complaint from another table close by which they were resolving and hence completely ignored everybody else.

i spoke to mr kumaran rajendran and informed him that we are planning to have a small gathering for my daughters birthday on 15 august. he informed he will revert back later in the day but 2 days later i have still not got any information that i requested. i guess this sums everything up.

restaurant has lot of potential but only the brand taj is not enough. they probably have got fresh staff from india and have not provided them any training. feel sorry for them since they seemed clueless as things were falling apart.

it’s a real shame though because the food was delicious and with improved service we would have really enjoyed our meal.

only other positive would be the chef who came for the cupcake making for my daughter. she was happy and enjoyed her cupcake. the extra star is for his effort.

i was here to checkout rooms for my upcoming guests and i visited therestaurantshamiana and suddenly i was so intimidated by the pictures on the wall of famous celebrities from india and abroad that couldnt stop to gaze by each one of them.
soon my husband ordered for thererestaurantsignature dish which was a dessert made out of coconut. coconut payasam..
served in a tender coconut shell..

last month on the occasion of indian republic day we visited shamianarestaurantin the newest taj property in town- taj jumeirah lake towers for dinner to try their special republic day set-menu. located on the 4th floor of the luxurious taj jlt, shamiana is their heritagerestaurantoffering authentic indian cuisine. you can expect all the signature dishes from the world of taj.

we visited taj shamiana for our one month wedding anniversary dinner. ordered chicken tikka & lamb sheekh kebab for starters both the dishes were 10/10. lamb biryani for main course was delicious. gajar halwa & ras malai were outstanding to end the dinner with.the taste, aroma & presentation of the food were classic. however mr naveen therestaurantmanager surprised us with a chocolate pastry & a congratulation message to add to our celebration. the chef personally visited the tables to make sure the food was perfect as per taste. the entire team was very warm & courteous. the classical music in the background added a sense of peace. must try for royal indian dining.
